QUOTE(wira1979 @ Aug 25 2008, 12:29 AM) Thanks for the advice mike. I did that a few times but so far I've been unsuccessful. Would going to the Maxis Service Centre help? I'm just afraid that something's wrong with the phone. I using maxis and with 3g activated...no problem at all. U might want to check yr E71 by open up the casing and batt..check for the label. See got E71-1 on the label

Just got my 8GB Sandisk MicroSD Mobile Ultra (came with tiny size USB reader), tested the write speed..damn..it was fast. It can achieved up to 16Mb/s write speed. Much faster than my 8Gb Sandisk Cruzer Micro thumbdrive (6.5Mb/s) Highly recommended

QUOTE(elmofudd @ Aug 29 2008, 04:51 PM) my GPS without A-GPS fails to find a satellite 99% of the time... even after driving for an hour there is still no satellite lock... but I have gotten it to work with A-GPS once, and only one other time without A-GPS... is anyone else here facing such problems with their E71's GPS? Locking a sat signal while driving is not a good way, bro. Without A-GPS activated, is very difficult to get it locked. Therefore, I still kept my BT GPS to pair with E71

For BT GPS, U can get M1000B from lelong.com...I got it around RM210+ COD It used nokia type of battery. So easy to find replacement. I paired with E61i and E71 with Garmin MXT.... Tested the South East Asia NT map at Bangkok now....not bad. Routable and quick accurate and suggested router as per what local people will take...hahaha

Straight change to Garmin MXT I would suggest, coz map are more detail and up to date becoz of contribution from Malsing forum. For the service U mentioned, I guess is not legit. Hmm...I should start charging to "ahem" Garmin MXT from now on...joking joking.... I also brought a waist pouch special for E71 at MBK, Bangkok. Quality is good and cheap E71 at Bangkok sold much higher price compare to Malaysia around RM1700 (AP set), Original set not sure. This post has been edited by mikelanding: Sep 2 2008, 12:16 PM

Around RM20 here..sorry no photo coz bz packing now and going back this afternoon. They also got crystal casing for E71. I brought a slide in pouch (for Iphone) and waist pouch. While using waist pouch, feel nothing on the waist coz E71 is so petite compare to my previous E61i..

QUOTE(toby.c13 @ Sep 5 2008, 11:38 PM) compare the e71 with the blackberry bold.. which one prevails? E71 for sure...(I sounded like a fan boy now...haha ) Actually depend on yr usage, if U need or subscribed Black Berry push mail...then BB Bold is better. Off topic: toby.c13, U got nokia N800 tablet rite? and from Melaka rite? This post has been edited by mikelanding: Sep 6 2008, 12:13 AM

QUOTE(munky @ Sep 6 2008, 10:52 PM) im tempted to get this phone. But can all the owners here compile a list of problems u encountered with the phone so far ? There are not much problem with this E71. Nokie E series are build for biz oriented people. So that are well build, robust and very stable OS. U will notice the firmware update for E series will be lesser compare to other nokia series (for example N series). I can compile a list of good thing about E71... QUOTE(pukarix @ Sep 6 2008, 10:58 PM) d problem so far? i keep on losing my charger on average..charging it once a week.. haha hahaha...this is good.

QUOTE(doomx @ Sep 7 2008, 05:51 PM) guys for the GPS do we need to pay for data charges? means connect to the phone provider internet? englighten me about gps pls If U dont enable "assisted GPS (A-GPS)", u dont need to pay anything to use the GPS signal. But if U enable A-GPS, a small amount of data will be transfer (at the very beginning) each time U load your Nokia Map software. Once U lock on the the Sats, there will be no more data transfer. I am not very sure on how much each transfer, some said 20-40 sen ( not really sure) The down side of not enable A-GPS is U need to wait very long time (like 10-20 mins) to get a sats. locked. Is really PITA to wait when U need to move to yr destination...

QUOTE(megatron007 @ Sep 8 2008, 10:31 PM) A-gps is a way to go .. i would say a proximately about 20-40kb usage once everything u activate it .... i got the signla within 5-10sec normally..even inside my landed house or condo wala!! E71 ROCKSS ya...I would said if U want to use GPS feature on E71...better enable the A-GPS first. Much Much faster sat locked on. But I use external BT GPS units (cheap Holux M-1000B), save bat, faster locked ...since i already brought it last time for my E61i This post has been edited by mikelanding: Sep 8 2008, 11:11 PM

QUOTE(Eoma @ Sep 8 2008, 11:36 PM) Does anyone find Garmin MXT "slow" ? Not in locking in but generally slow. I find Google maps so much more user friendly and the cursor moves around the map much more snappier. Or am i just using it wrongly ? ya..Garmin map is slower in navigating the map. I notice MicroSD that U use play some part in it. The Sandisk 8GB Micro SDHC (have around16Mb/s write speed!!) i used do speed up a bit. Map browsing more snappy. The map that U used also play important part. The bigger the map size, the slower the browsing speed.
