@andrew
With a budget of RM1.6-1.7k........ more worth to buy a 2-3mths old HTC Diamond. At least you are assured of another 10 months of warranty. Many users are selling in that price range. Try avoiding P3600i which has only 64mb Ram/ 128mb Rom......... with today's applications, its definitely not enuff. |

@andrew, be wary of overseas set Diamond selling at that price, which warranty not by SIS. whether good deal or not, look at specs, look at DIamond thread.
@mcsiaw, QWERTY keyboard is that thing that slides out from under your phone and becomes a keyboard lor. u need to say yes or no for a proper recommendation since that is crucial @eyez, your options include second hand Diamond (be wary of overseas sets with no SIS Malaysia warranty), HTC P3600i and HTC Touch Cruise. Personally all three are actually extremely good devices. U may find the battery of diamond too short a life. so have a look at cruise and P3600i. If not for my extended battery i purchased for my diamond from expansys, i'd have downgraded to Touch Cruise |

QUOTE(myst @ Sep 30 2008, 11:12 PM) BUDGET RANGE: around RM2k their specs are similar, including build and etc. it comes down to do u prefer a hardware T9 pad or virtual on screen one. but on the whole for medium gaming i recommend the Touch Cruise, since the screen is bigger and for around the same price, it has better support from SIS.Brand Preference if any: Considering HTC Touch Cruise and Asus P750 Second hand: no maximum how long ago released: no more than 1 year, shorter better QWERTY keyboard: no Keypad: open GPS: Yes Bluetooth: Yes WIfi: Yes Frequent Overseas traveller to Japan and US? or other countries: no Camera Resolution minimum: 3mpx or more Expandable Memory: open 3G : Yes HSDPA or higher: Yes Front Camera: Yes Gaming Type: Medium gaming (especially waiting for wifey during shopping) Screen Resolution: Whichever better |

@andrew, erm, i didnt quite understand what u said. but a lot of shops say "oh warranty by us, 15 months some more!" is basically, the shop go and buy from overseas, and bring here and sell for profit. its not even considered ap since the shops which do these are all small timers. so how much warranty do u think a small timer shop will give u despite 15 months? SIS for example would give u 1 for 1 exchange! would a small timer do that? fat chance. so make sure u purchase original set from SIS Malaysia, and make sure u get the card and MAKE SURE ITS STAMPED
@mcsiaw, u shud be looking at second hand or first hand if u can find, since GPS is a no, i highly recommend the 838pro. Brand new its around your budget, second hand maybe close to 1k give or take. Its an excellent device, and one of the most solid devices available that is qwerty. Since its standard QVGA screen, almost all programs and softwares are compatible with it too. |

@andrew, thats right
@eyez, well, both are pretty good devices, but the Touch FLo on the Cruise slows it down just a LITTLE. but i prefer the build for Touch Cruise than P3600i, more scratch resistant cuz rubberised. for the extended battery, there is a RUMOUR that it will be sold by SIS Malaysia, heavy price tag of around RM300. again its a rumour. u can also buy from expansys singapore. (online, shipped thru DHL, i got mine 24 hours after delivery |

@n82110,
for services and repairs, straight will have to be HTC Devices already. next, for keypad, and all your other specs, it narrows it down to one and only one device that i know of. The HTC Touch Dual. Have a look at it, and browse around for the price. second hand best bought from users instead of shops with balance official HTC SIS Warranty |

HTC Touch Dual have wifi? Although I would like the design, but I am ok with other types like Asus P750 or Ipaq 612, with the keypad at the bottom. Just don't like the qwerty keypad because I quite often use one hand to type.

ops, yea no wifi. well, u can actually consider other PDAS, cuz PDAs actually have virtual T9 keypad. which is even bigger and better than normal phone IMHO. just no tactile feel.
on the other devices u had in mind, yes, i would recommend them, but obtaining warranty may be a problem for u. if u can forget hard T9 hardware, and go for virtual T9 keypad on screen, it greatly widens your choices This post has been edited by Baronic: Oct 3 2008, 09:10 PM |
