thanks dadarouch.

@raist86, unfortunately your budget is too low, both for a GPS device, and for a qwerty keyboard. qwerty keyboard minus GPS and fit your budget, go for second 838pro. U can also look for a second hand Eten M700, but its extremely rare. it has qwerty and GPS.

@puppetslice. please read the first post. this thread is not a comparison thread. nor will i or anyone i believe, take our time to recommend u anything if u cant tell us what u want by taking time to fill in the form in the first post in this thread.

hi,

I'm helping my friend to ask which PDA to look into (brand & model)

As currently we have no idea about PDA phone ....include the price range. Therefore if you guys able to recomend... perhaps PDA with midrange price & PDA with high end price. So she able to make comparison....

Currently the PDA are mainly use for business usage (emails & internet) & of course daily usage as personal handphone.

Meanwhile PDA phone is device that bring convenience for it's function but as for frequent traveler size & weight has been in her mind as well.....

Therefore please advice

its a lil difficult shafique to recommend a good pda with qwerty and GPS since there arent many like that, and fits your budget.

you can look for the elusive Eten Glofish M700. I'm not sure how much the Eten Glofish M800 second hand will be selling, but probably around 1.7k. You may also be able to negotiate a second hand HTC Tytn2 down to 1.6k or if you're lucky 1.5k

@shafique, yes, a very highly recommended candidate is a second hand Dopod 838pro. one of the most stable pdas. around 900 like that. u can even get a separate GPS receiver to connect via bluetooth with it, u can look around for it around 350.

@daniel tan, u can have a look at the HTC P3600i, and Eten X800, both good devices with slightly different specs for different needs. the HP Ipaq 612c does not fit your requirement, no front cam.

thanks Baronic for your reply...

haha,i never noticed hp iPAQ 612c is no front CAM le..

before this i have the mind to go for HTC 3600i too,but then i more prefer to have the keyboard like handphone so i give up for it...
i worry i too rude n keep on press on the touch screen will easy break the touch screen...
me hardly make the phone call but at least 10 sms per day...

i have read thru sum of the forum comment bout tis iPAQ 612c, found like it quick ok...except the battery...thinking is it suit me..

now wat that i most worry is as the 1)GPS and 2)WIFI...
i have go counter ask bout this phone

1)they say wil install the GPS map for me, but they told me they cannot try inside the building (me at sunway pyramid that time)
and i dun know how reliable of it as i cannot test on it, and the worst is from the forum found that sum of the user wil face a little bit difficulty while using the GPS system(just to let you know,i never use PDA phone before)

2)and i read the forum found that the WIFI is need special setting only can use WIFI by free izzit?
if not wil charge me by GPRS rate???

the HTC P3600i u can install phonepad which will emulate a normal phone's keypad to sms. i heavy smser also. use your thumb's skin la. dun sms with your nails. should be no problem at all.

GPS issue if cannot work, is hardware issue which will be covered in warranty. clarify with them.

wifi whether free or not depends on which wifi you use bro. Depends on whether or not your place got wifi connection network. i think you have to find out whats wifi since i think u have a misunderstanding of what it is. If you arent connected to wifi, of course when u try to online will be routed via GPRS. so will have GPRS rates

@ danieltan

latest doesnt necessarily mean best.

specs wise the HTC P3600i is more than a match for Ipaq 612c. I'd prefer the HTC P3600i over 612c anytime due to specs, screen size and moddability as well as easy to claim warranty from SIS.

specs pros and cons do read up on respective threads.

also, the phone pad i was refering to is a VIRTUAL phone pad. its a free software available for download anywhere, or XDA developers if u dunno where. to clarify, its creates a VIRTUAL PHONE PAD on your screen so you tap the screen as if tapping a normal phone keypad to sms. the VIRTUAL PHONE PAD is also T9 enabled yes.

@krain, why not spend 800 and nego on lelong.com.my, i'm sure u can get a second hand Dopod 838pro for 800. Other models i wouldnt really recommend, specs wise. Dopod 838 pro seems perfect for your needs

my latest pda around 2.6k-2.7k original.

when i was using 838pro, i was very very satisfied with it. i just needed a GPS to travel as i suck at reading maps. and i didnt wanna buy a separate GPS receiver tho its actually cheaper. thats the only downside of the 838pro really.
