OS occupies 10% space of the storage drive.
You can go as small as 40GB or if you just want cheap thrills, the Kingston 20GB SSDNow.. laugh.gif

Is it worth slugging a SSD into a PS3?
Not really, atleast not for the cost you're gonna pay for.

was thinking about that.
just wondering if it would help saving files faster as all EA games love to save often and is SLOW mad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Ouch! I was about to buy an Intel 300GB SSD and slap it on my PS3.
Glad I googled first. biggrin.gif

Use it for video editing or photo editing or speed up your OS, no point putting into PS3

@shawty

I think that article is a bit old, no ?
You can search digital foundry for the latest ssd related test for consoles.

Am already using 2 units of Intel 160GB SSD on RAID 0 on my workstation. biggrin.gif
So I thought SSD could help in PS3. GT5 is uber slow in PS3.

Meh, old or not, the result is still the same as the Intel 300GB SSD write and read speed on PC is more or less the same speed as the Samsung 256GB SSD used in the article, so I don't think new article would prove otherwise even with PS3 Firmware 4.0

Unless you found an article that prove otherwise, maybe I could re-think of getting SSD for my PS3.
By otherwise I mean the install, loading time is cut off by at least 50% ~ 75%. Otherwise, SSD is not worth it for PS3.

You do know that an OEM Intel 300GB SSD is worth RM800 ~ RM900 right? So If I were to spend that much money to upgrade my PS3 harddisk, I expect huge improvement. icon_idea.gif

Hey guys, I need some opinion.
It's hard for me to control some games for example L.A. Noir, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, Bulletstorm and some other games that requires shooting.

I already bought PS Move, PS Navigation, PS Eye Camera & Gummac Gun Shooter, but I later found out that even after using those stuff it's still hard to control those games.
Wasted RM459 for those rubbish. Sorry but that is are my truthful opinion.

And thus, I'm thinking of buying either the Hori TAC 3 PS3 Keyboard & Mouse Combo or the AIMON PS Wireless Mouse & Grip.
However, I'm still not sure if buying either 1 of those will help in playing those games easier.

Opinions please. icon_question.gif

Guys, was trying to upgrade my PS3 Slim HDD but the freakin screw feels like its bolted on tightly... thus i striped all four of the screw on the HDD bracket. Tried the "needle nose" and drill method but the screws are insanely tight on mine.
I'm now looking for a new HDD bracket to house my new 320 GB. Any ideas or where to get one locally (found 1 on ebay but i want to try local first).

sony's backup utility is your only option.

Just imagine, last time i had a 500gb drive, then I upgraded to 1tb, woudlnt it be a nightmare to backup it secor by sector?

My ps3 phat shut down by itself few times yesterday.

Scared got prob so upgraded the hdd today.

From 80gb to 500gb wd blue caviar 5400rpm.

Backup 37gb of data was a pain. Took an hour plus to backup and another hour plus to restore.

Glad I made the upgrade. Finally can put ps plus subscription to good use.

Download all the free games now. Hehe.
