hi all,
My wife is in 5 weeks ++ pregnant. We went to see a gynae. Everythings is normal. He did mentioned that my wife is in the range of low-risk prenancy (below 30yo and no other problems).
He give my wife folic acid (5mg) to be taken daily and Duphaston (10mg) to be taken twice a day. After searching the internet regarding the Duphaston pill, I found out some country is banned for this. I'm kinda worry about this Duphaston drug. Anyone know more info about Duphaston drug???
Thanks.

That's a lil bit unusual.

How much did you pay for medication?

Hi Syd,
This is my wife 1st pregnancy and is our 1st visit to the gynae. Its cost me RM 145 (in Ipoh), which I think is quite expensive. During the visit, the doctor did the ultra scan, vagina scan and measure blood pressure. After the scan, he gave us the photo which showing our baby.
Is okay to continue take this Duphaston pill??
Thanks.

Hi Justin,

RM145 for first visit is not really expensive at all (for consultation+scan+pic+medication). Other clinics charge around RM200++ for first visit, RM100 subsequent.

But if I'm your wife I wouldnt take it. Does your wife has any issue with her blood pressure?

Just want to know, when giving birth, do you prefer natural delivery or caesarean?

I note that nowdays a lot of woman go under the knife altho they can deliver naturally.
*
I'm delivering next month and I prefer natural delivery~ caesarean is 2 times more painful than natural delivery and natural delivery gives great impact to the baby and it helps in baby's brain development

RM 145, is it normal clinic or gynae specialist?

I think it costs you that much due to the medicines... why dont you go to Klinik Kesihatan? they give folid acid, iron pills, obimin etc etc for free... hehehehe~

Anyway, I am not sure abount Dophaston... Did the doctor tell you why your wife needs to take that pills?
tive cesarean, right?)

about my pregnancy...

it's really scary, knowing you do have another life inside your body and thinking about your due soon and not really knowing what to feel or how will the delivery be going on...

i was having a hard time during my pregnancy because I dob't have a husband nor a boyfriend to lean on because he abandoned me when I told him that I was pregnant, yeah.. really a J*RK, I know.. But, I still have my family though especially my mom and my brother's, they never left me and they made me strong all the way that I was able to deliver a beautiful baby angel..

I never regretted having her in my life because she was the best thing that ever happened to me and I'll do anything to raise her well and hoping I could be a good mom to her even without a real complete family and without her father's presence...

Low chance for that, the brilliant way on knowing the possibility of getting pregnant is counting 14days from the 1st day of menstruation. That would be your ovulation day and it has the highest chance of conceiving, this is applicable either your menstruation is irregular or regular... icon_idea.gif

err question: when a mommy give birth..which part mummy in pain?? vagina??? or other

Not actually in the vagina, mostly it's in the lumbar area (the lower part of your back) where your pelvis is located and where the baby will past through during the delivery...

woman gets fatter after giving birth because mothers breastfeed their babies so the mother gets hungry after the breastfeed and also she must eat a lot to sustain her babies need of milk. smile.gif

aside from that you could save money if you to give birth in a natural way. and yes its true that it help your babies brain development. if you can do natural birthing then go go go!!!!

I was 19 nearly 20 when I had my daughter, sure thing that being pregnant at a very young age is the most hardest thing in your young adulthood life. My boyfriend left me when he found out that I was pregnant but I was still on my feet with my families. He was really a jerk and I had this thought always about having my vengeance but I realize that his not worthy of any attention at all. When i delivered my baby, he had this guts on contacting me and apologizing and acting like he haven't done anything wrong.. But I never allowed or give him the recognition of him being the father of my child, I simply told him that we don't need him and me and my daughter are better off without him. Now, my daughter is nearly turning into a year old next month and Thank God, I can still keep up being a mother to her.

Duphaston is the brand name given by the company. The name of the medicine is a hormone called dydrogesterone (progesterone). This product is indicated in women trying to conceive if there is proven. Once conception has taken place, progesterone hormone is indicated only in pregnanices due to assisted reproductive techniques such as IVF etc. or in cases of habitual abortion (repeated miscarriages). Misuse and overuse of progesterone can lead to a number of side effects including fetal death and spontaneous abortion (more so in the first three months of gestation), musculanisation of female fetus (such as unwanted hair on face), birth defects in babies such as cleft palate and heart defects. Therefore in the United States and some other countries, the use of Duphaston during "known or suspected pregnancy" is banned. Sonce your gynae found out that your wife is in the range of low-risk pregnancy, that probably means that your wife has low levels of progesterone that's why he included the medicine Dupahston, it's actually safe to take it during the 1st 3 months... smile.gif

Hi all, i got a question. Of course me and my wife had been trying to have baby since last year december and we haven't succeed. We recently went to see the doctor at PMC Cheras (Dr. Ho) Female. As my wife feel more comfortable with female doctor. So far, no possitive results yet and doctor advice me to do sperm test and i still a bit feel reluctant to go. But just yesterday, me and my wife again went to visit her for follow up as it's my wife's 11th day after period. But doctor said this time won't have any possitive results since the egg is too small. 1.3 mm or was it cm? but it's something like that.

so my question is, how big is the normal egg in order to conceive? Planning to change doctor already because seems like our doctor always like to rush and never really give any good advice also. This time she just said no hope and ask us to go again next month. sad.gif

Yup, perhaps i am not clear enough in my statement before. I was reluctant to do the sperm test on that day because on that night i was planning to do the "homework" with my wife. And i think the doctor shouldn't advice me to do the sperm test if she knew that it's the fertile date for my wife? And i need to puasa 3 days before the sperm test.

Anyway, thx for your reply. Just to drop in here get some helpful advice and not anything else.

Hi, maybe I can point you to this doctor (whom I have no experience with, but my friends do). He's Dr. Wong Pak Seng at Sunway, who's v. wellknown for IVF treatment and fertility advices. Of course, if you don't want an IVF, he won't push you to do it, unless no choice given. But I heard he's good in giving reproductive advices. All the best!

I know there's something called Compression Stockings in the market made especially for pregnant women to promote comfort, and to prevent from leg cramp, and so on.

You can ask around if you can find them in Malaysian market, but in my own case, I never need to use any of those during my pregnancy. I just use the normal socks when I sleep at night because my skin tends to dry up easily during pregnancy, so I'd apply foot cream every night and protect them with socks.

I also wore the ordinary socks during confinement.
