A good counter indeed. Overall a positive profit on Tony's warehouse.

Wondering if this is a good idea hmm.gif Don Mueang is more than an hour from Suvarnabhumi. Transferring between the airports would be a hassle.

Majority of research analysts put the TP at above RM4.00.
But of course a lot depends on crude oil price...

AirAsia Bhd will buy 76% of Indonesian low-cost carrier Batavia Air to expand in Southeast Asia’s biggest economy. AirAsia will benefit from Batavia Air’s strong agent network in Indonesia and will have a very positive effect on earnings over the next few years. thumbup.gif

Can AirAsia Bhd buy majority stake in Batavia Air rclxub.gif
If it is PT Indonesia AirAsia which buys 76% share of Batavia Air that's certainly fine...

I hope Batavia Air will merge with PT Indonesia AirAsia. The budget airline market is getting crowded.

OK, now we get more details of the deal. It looks like the acquisition will be carried out in 2 stages. Ultimately AirAsia Bhd and Fersindo will own 100% stake of Batavia Air. The former will own 49% while the latter will own 51%. As I had expected, foreign firm can't own majority stake in Indonesia's airlines.

Don't celebrate yet. Most acquisitions don't work out. Batavia Air is losing money now. I hope Tony Fernandes can turn it around in 1 year, as he did for AirAsia...

Not sure if it is good news hmm.gif
Its revenue for the last quarter increased slightly, but operating profit was actually lower. The higher profit was due to one-off disposal of 4% shares in Thai AirAsia.

I assume Tony will re-invest the money. If not hopefully AA will give better dividend...

Can somebody please explain this?

...the AirAsia Berhad investment in Thai AirAsia is now accounted for in accordance with MFRS128 Investments in Associates, which requires that the equity method be used.

AA last declared dividend in May (ex-date in June). If it does declare interim dividend, that would be a few months later.
