Just too bad that Krell has discont the 400xi.
Replaced by S-300i which produces 150w / channel.
With Class A pre-amp circuit but made in far east (you know where la.. )

Thanks nicholas,

I have read PcWork's review, that's why i will do more research and comparison the 'worthiness' of the original speaker stand.
*
The speaker stands are really expensive.
I also took quite sometime to think about them.

I listened the SFCD at the shop that day for around 3hrs with a friend.
Then, went to take a cup of tea.
During that tea time, I kept discussing with my friend about the stands.
My friend was amused and asked "Why need such a long thought about the speakers?"

I told him that the stands are almost half the price of the speakers.
He gulped his coffee and choked, looked at me with his eyes almost popping out.. laugh.gif

He said "the price of the cow's chain is almost half of the cow!!" laugh.gif

QUOTE(PcWork @ Jun 9 2009, 06:06 PM)
why don't u try to remove the speaker from it's original stand. and find one most expensive stand available in the market. and try place ur sonus on top of it. see if u still say the same word in describe the sound or not.
i also choked by the price. but when i really buy it. i tell myself.. if i don't spend this RM 2K... the RM 5K i spend for the speaker is just wasted by not performing at full potential...
then this 2K is worth to make another 5K more valuable.
if i don't spend this 2K. my sonus don't sounds like a 7K speaker.. but just like a 3K speaker. lol
and it's more safe too since it has screw beneath it. the speaker won't fall down easily.

before this i am using original B&W stand.. made by aluminium. and the sound is just not right.
so i come to a conclusion that all stand is the same.. but when i give the stand to my brother which he using my B&W 601.. he told me the improvement is unbelievable just by one stand. the speaker sounds bigger. like a floorstander...

Nicholas. i though u already has an answer yesterday??
u heard the sound of it when moved out from my room right?
=P i think tha'ts the real potential.

imho.. the real chain is the cable. lol if sonus is the cow..
the stand is the toe..

*
You know why I want to grab the speaker stands together? brows.gif
Bcoz I just want it to be a complete set. The stands are part of the SFCD.
On the other hand, I strongly believe that the stands are designed according to the SFCD.
They are matching in terms of sound reproduction and also matching aesthetically.
Also, just dont want to regret later...

When you told me that there were not many left, I never hesitated to drive up to KL that day. notworthy.gif
And I had no idea that the pair of stands was the last pair right until the time I was making the payment.

car_o_scope, congratulations and welcome to the club!!
the next natural thing to do (after you get amp) is to get a turntable..  brows.gif

Y.C, the ori stands for SF Concertino Domus and Concerto Home are not the same?
*
Thanks, bro..
Aiyoyo.. you got another thing lining up for me already ah? sweat.gif

I guess they are not the same. hmm.gif
The Home series stands are not angled.

SF purchases are bank breakers BUT you will look back and say, "Damn, they were worth breaking the bank for!"

Congratulations and welcome to the club Car_o_scope. I knew you had it in you smile.gif

Thanks.

I gotta say I have learned a lot from you all here.
Definitely no regrets in landing a pair of SFCD to my home.
Soooooooo Happy. rclxm9.gif

not the same.
even the screw holes are different.
the home screw is further apart.
so can't even screw the speaker on the stand.
by the way.. anyone know who this guy is??

It is OK.. We are just doing trial and error.
I think it is good to share info among members in this forum.

I guess I have problems with the room dimensions as it is almost squarish. (11.5ft x 12ft)
But I am not giving up in getting the best out of it.
I am not convinced that I cant improve it.  biggrin.gif

I can feel the reduction in boomy bass after putting in the foams.
Some of those small instruments can be heard now, though minimal.

Alright.. back to the questions.
I feel that the sound stage is still alright but I endure boomy bass and also the clarity.

I am using some songs to do comparisons for my experiments.
Boomy bass = Aaron Neville & Linda Ronstadt (Close Your Eyes)
Clarity = Stacey Kent & Jim Tomlinson (So Nice) saxophone part
Some songs really have no boomy issue at all.  rclxub.gif
*
How peculiar...
When I simply put my SFCD in room with extreme toe in, the boomy basses were totally gone. Poof.. disappeared.. biggrin.gif
I also dont know why or how.

I played back the same songs which have problems previously.
Really have no more such problems with the SFCD.
Everything is the room remains in same arrangement.
Why har? hmm.gif

Wow.. Not bad bro... Can get a good chance to attend the talk.

OK. Let me know when you have obtained the RF909.
I am very curious about what these small wonders can do..

You used very good analogies for your explanations. rclxms.gif
Good. Easy to understand.

Sometimes, good bass and high cabinet volume also need good designs to counter the bad effects such as the diffraction and the greater level of bass generated.

Aikss.. doh.gif I am saying things very differently about cabinet volume now compared to last week.. tongue.gif

That day Perfect Hi Fi also gave me a glimpse of the TU-303EX tuning feet for just few minutes.

http://www.combak.net/feet&bases/FEET&BASES.htm

The TU-303EX was applied under the Primo Settanta CD player at one time and also the amp at one time.

There are differences as the music that was churned out by the SF becomes clear, soundstage more focused and even less noise.

Wow...RM300 per pcs...It seems like target a very niche market

Regarding the transport...is the 777 cdp? I think it cost not more than RM40k...erm, Taiwan magazine stated it cost 394,000

Maybe RM78k is whole set include the latest 999 dac?

Well, there is a way to find out.. brows.gif

Just to share something here..

Before I buy my SFCD, I have emailed SF to consult them on what sort of speakers fit best into my 12ft x 12ft room.

The answer is: Bookshelf speakers
Model recommended: Cremona Auditor M

(Aikss.. I dont have such a huge budget lar.. laugh.gif )

i beg them for quite long time already for the spike shoe.. lol..
i just wanna get "real" whole set..
from the hair to toe..
by the way
Auditor M is seriously impressive...
wait i started working i will seriously find money for that.
now too poor to afford it.

by the way. i realize that if the floor is hard enough. use the sonus original spike on the floor won't going to scratch the floor as it's head is quite blunt..
and it sounds the best without any spike shoe.
everythings is fast. and yet evolving.
when put on spike shoe. .. it does shrink the positioning a little bit..
PS: above statement were not including harmonix tuning feet.
*
I dont want to think about other speakers now..
I already have SFCD at the moment.. brows.gif

I leave the SFCD on my carpet.
I guess it should be ok coz I dont have the spike shoes. tongue.gif

Do your speaker cable touching the carpet? If it does, please raise your speaker cable with any method, because static of carpet will drop your signal quality. smile.gif

*
Aiyoyo... Good nice stuffs to recommend me again ar?? laugh.gif

The speaker cables are not touching the carpet.
Coz they are not very long... biggrin.gif

Yes, you should enjoy all your music collection all over again, try to differentiate their sound before and now.

Enjoy the music and listening pleasure, i bet you can listen longer hours than before.  cool.gif
*
Sometimes I repeat the CD. Just to enjoy the sounds that cannot be heard of from ES11.
I guess I will let go of the ES11 soon.

I have to becareful with the amp coz the SFCD is power demanding.
Scared of clipping. I dont want to spoil the amp and speakers.
