Oh, I dont know if they're couple but I only know Zack. A lot of the breeders are from Klang, that's how I know them.

the first time i saw westie was at petsmore in jalan sultan. quite good quality also. it was 2 months old, don't remember if male or female. selling for about RM2500. that was back in august.

i think i also saw that same westie that pennywise saw at ikano. the following week we went back there, he was gone. selling RM2200+ i think.

do try the pet family petstore at taman megah. we saw a westie there, but not too good quality, selling at RM1800.

maybe you can try asking those petshops to reserve for you?

Actually, it's not superior nor perfect. hmm.gif Irene's westie has a nice build. I had wished to see her westie with the popular westie lion's cut but all I've seen so far is a bushy, messy forehead fur. I would have hope to see her comb / groom it in other ways. tongue.gif

Let me explain to you why it's not superior nor perfect (note this is just personal opinion). Ever noticed why some people say there's no nice Westie in Malaysia? cry.gif

I said there is nice westies in accordance to local standards, but honestly, there really isnt any that's up to standards with those you see in Scotland. Take a good look at those photos posted by larryho when he travelled UK.

Our local westies are nice to look at but its often not comparable. Not to mention the grooming cut. I dont think Irene's westie is lion cut despite it being the most famous. Additionally, it's really hard to find someone who can do hand stripping on our westies locally. The best so far is Seapark Pet Supplies, SS2 as recommended by ihawk98.

However, I do admit and think she spend a lot of time maintaining her westie to be so white icon_idea.gif notworthy.gif - whether you can do the same or not is a different story, my friend. I know I couldnt! cry.gif Hahaha!!

Westie is also determined by the size of the head and body structure. Not only must it be small but it has to be how to say... padat and fit. Unlike other dogs where you can tough their body and feel fats, westie body are usually very tight together like muscular even though they're only home pets.

Lastly, Einstein + Marilyn Monroe dont mean their kids turn out genius or hot. This depends a lot on you who will bring it up! Are you ready for this new challenge in your life? Hehe..

just think of it as going to penang for holiday lo. and then go check her westies out. hit 2 birds with 1 stone mah wink.gif
we also not sure if will really buy her last puppy when we drove up last month. coz we won't get to choose. but after seeing both the parents, we really fell in love with their quality. really "almost" pure breed westie from scotland wub.gif

you have sharp eyes! christy is better looking than jasmine. her fur quality also better and so pretty. her ears are pinky clean and she is very patient with all the strangers that came see her puppies. i've never seen a dam that let strangers touch their babies thumbup.gif

if you can wait, you can call irene and make a booking for christy and ozzy's next litter la. the dog will follow you for 15 years and more, so it is very important that you have no regrets adopting it to your family icon_rolleyes.gif

it took us 2 months to find scubby happy.gif

This is the saddest part of your story, you dont get to choose a puppy. For me, I feel this is the most important stage when choosing a pet. I believe others will tell you the same.

This is where you know that your RM3k+ and travelling is worth it because, you know you're getting the best. You know that whatever negative outcomes, it's your choice of selecting the puppy.

If you're already sure and made the decision, then ok la. Puppies have this way to approach ppl and win their hearts despite it being the first or last. But you should have opt for choices dude.

If I am not mistaken, Irene's westies are from Aust, not Scotland. I did speak to her and was told that it was her son who brought it back from Aust or something, am I correct?

From your post, looks like you're ready for a new adventure in your life! Congratz mate!

Malaysia westies are different from those in Scotland. I really have no idea why but even larryho posted the same thing and is intending to buy back from Scotland. I am also tempted to get my best friend's bro to buy one but then, I think our climate plays a part as well and time, commitment, money... cannot tahan la. 3 is enough for me.

I've called them before and without the master groomer, I doubt I will ever send my dog there. So far, I'm still very satisfied with Seapark Pet Supplies. ihawk98 and myself go there and maybe 6 months from now you should too. Your puppy will be the main attraction during the festive season when friends come to visit. Not sure if you're chinese but since it's just a pup, your pup probably wont be needing grooming till past CNY 2009.

feel like we're chatting live haha sweat.gif

yes lo, it is a downside that we won't get to choose. but i believe in fate, and it has brought us all the way to penang for him. even if you get to choose, how you know it is also the best leh? there will always be a WHAT IF argument. when you buy at the pet shop, there's only 1 to choose too mah. unless you get another breed tongue.gif

btw, this is jaclyn that does the replying. ben is the working husband and jac (me) will be the scubby nanny thumbup.gif

Ah... I see, nice to live-chat with Jac.

Anyway, I do not know much about dogs until 2 years back. I learnt the importance of being the first to choose. A litter of dogs delivered, each of them will be unique and have different temperament. If you feel this is fated to be your dog, quickly go pick him up this Sat and remember to post lots of picture lor, or else we might not be able to forgive you... Hahahahaha...

I am not really qualified to teach you how to know the dog is the best but this is like common practise even among breeders. Usually, people will go for the most naughty / active one. Not the most low confident / self overprotective one.

Just something to share if you dont already know:
For example, if I have a female westie and you have a male. We arrange for a stud service and the dam deliver say, 5 pups. The owner of the sire will get to choose first (which is the best la) one pup and leave the remaining with the dam who went through the delivery and this of course involves risk of dying, etc. This is why ppl always choose first.

Good example there. Malaysian chinese and american born chinese, looks different ma even though both are chinese.

I think you can achieve those white and long fur if you're hardworking with maintenance, combing, grooming, whitening, etc. For me, I'm a guy and I think westie should look cool (possible plain lazy excuse to maintain my dogs).

Here are the westies that I think is really outstanding.

i also hope i can keep him white and healthy looking. the husband is very scared i turn our scubby into chubby westie haha.
don't use guy as an excuse la. just comb him every night and his fur will gleam. cheaper than curing their genetic skin problems wink.gif

not fair la if you compare malaysian westies with scottish westies. since scubby's parents are from aussie, and their weather is a bit bit similar (not too cold), maybe can achieve a good looking westie smile.gif

hmm we don't quite like the lion head cut. but the wearing skirt cut is nice thumbup.gif

Meat meal is a generic term for by-products, which means the internal and unwanted parts of a meat. For example, you see chicken meal simply means this bag of kibbles is made of chicken by products (intestine, heart, liver, brains, etc).

You can trust brands like Evanger, Natural Balance, Acana, Eaglepack, etc on the market but based on experience, try to avoid high protein kibbles like Orijen and Innova Evo (40% protein) because:
1. Protein is heaty and can lead to skin problems
2. Too much protein means the liver / whatever organs that need to absorb protein will have to overwork
3. Indoor pets dont need high protein
4. Like how ppl who goes to gym take protein powder to gain muscles but side effect is more pimples, likewise, westies being sensitive skin will also have pimples and skin problems
5. Unburn protein turns into fats.

Well, I am not against Eukanuba because Marquis is eating that now. Eukanuba is what the breeder feed it, so I continue to give it till maybe 4 - 6 months old before changing so that he's in a more stable, happy and accepting condition prior to the change.

What I am trying to say is: those brands you can get from convenience store (not pet store) is the general or generic brand of dog kibbles. For example, Alpo, Eukanuba and Pedigree.

I would prefer my furkids to eat something else since I can afford it. So, I go for Natural Balance or Evanger, my two favorite brands. Occassionally, I swap for Eaglepack, Acana or whatever I can find off the shelf of a pet store. I just try to avoid Eukanuba, Alpo and Pedigree.

Example: If you want to buy a pro mountain bike, would you buy one from Tesco or would you buy from a bicycle specialist shop? Mountain bike, RM200 also got, RM20,000 also got. Another brand I avoid is Science Plan - I just dont like it. Dont ask me why.

Here, read this: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/how-often-s...ange-foods.html and find the ratings of dogfood in this same website as well. Check out where Eukanuba, Alpo or Pedigree stands... I dont know but I think it's not some 4 star, 5 star or 6 star rated dog kibble.
