Geylang, on one hand, is known as red light area, but on the other hand, it is also famous for good food ler..

As for Little India, weekdays is ok, but on weekends, become the gathering/meeting place for Bangladeshi and Pakistani workers. Can be quite scary, especially at night. Then on Sunday night, around 9+pm, if take MRT, North East Line or take bus pass by Little India, you'll bound into them, carrying their groceries from vege to fishes. I saw before the train's floor kena dirtied by those bloody fishy water from the bag.. Em, not to mention the smell some more..

So far, no one mention staying at Chinatown. Keong Saik Road got some budget hotels. But hor, Keong Saik Road used to be red light area and mistress area too..

Singapore is getting more and more expensive liao. If want to look for real budget place to stay, should consider the area further away from town, places like Changi area, Kovan(near USA -Upper Serangoon Avenue)..

The latest trend is, there are "homestay" ("minsu') in Singapore too.. also not cheap la..

U can bargain wth them or compare wth hotel booking websites such as agoda, asiaroom & more for cheaper option...If I can get S$45 for a rack rated S$60 Hotel81 Palace, for sure u can get better rate..But staying at those Geyland hotels, the only problem is walking to the nearest MRT at Aljunied...1.3km from Lrg 16...Going no prob but cumin back sakit kaki after whole day walking!!

Hotel81 palace is very clean sumore free..Super cup noodles & Newater..ehh Hotel81 mineral water..!!..The cleaninest suprise me as it's cleaner than 4star rated Swiuss garden in M'sia!!..Oh forgotten..for those driving in--- Got free parking inside the hotel... rclxms.gif

Hotel 81 Gold and Hotel 81 Lucky, at Lorong 20.

The MRT station is called Aljunied. Google map for Aljunied MRT station, Singapore, you'll see all the Lorongs' number.
