only the hotel81s near geylang are cheap, those elsewhere can get quite expensive... normally i pay just a little more to get a better hotel.

if looking for mid/high-range hotels, please try wotif.com. they sometimes have secret deals (they won't say the hotel name until you pay for it). Its a bargain even if compared to the usual internet discount rates. For example, through wotif secret deals, Orchard hotel is at Sgd180. see if you can find a cheaper price elsewhere... smile.gif

I'm also planning for X'mas celebration in SG... will continue monitoring the thread.

Currently checking out Value Hotel Balestier but was told that the location is not so tourist-friendly.

I'm looking for room for 2 at something less than S$100 - is that possible?

agree... geylang got nice food also... biggrin.gif

Below $100 quite hard to find. If you up your budget to $120, maybe can stay at Link Hotel (boutique hotel at tiong bahru). I made a booking there last week through the wotif.com secret deals. Nice Rooms but just a little small. From there, got shuttle service to orchard road or direct bus to orchard road. I haven't found any other hotels more attractive than this for this price yet, plus its convenient to orchard road

Christmas period wor, when can find below S$100 hotel? Already limited choice even when non peak period...

While most backpacker's inns, as the name suggested, good for backpackers, there are also so called guesthouse or hostel. For the guesthouse or hostel, they have double bed room with attached bathroom, so you'll get your privacy. If want cheap, can go for this type ah. Better than some budget hotel, name nia called hotel, cost not cheap and room not big..

@AmiTsun....Yeap agreed that some B&B actually much cleaner & offer better service than so called budget hotels that not really budget esp in SG!...Hotel81 has also increase their rate since my l;ast stay..now avg S$70 liao ~ Geylang whereas previously I can get S$45 nia!!...Cheap & clean B&B available ~ Little India..but too bad I dun have the list..probably visit hostelworld.com hmm.gif ....I Most of my past 1 yr traveling on budget I stayed at B&B wth attached bathroom...The only disadvantage - U need to go down / or go to the common lobby to watch TV or breakfast.

wow. one man's poison is really another man's meat biggrin.gif
if going with girls better stay away from geylang hotels, unless she is into cuci mata as well biggrin.gif
got what good food at geylang lorong 16 ah stimix

i'd like to recommend RELC Hotel, stayed there before and it's really hygienic but the rooms are small if compared to south east asia hotel... I stayed in the cheapest room (around SGD100 per nite with two beds) which shares a bathroom and small hallway with another room.. forgot whether it includes breakfast or not.. It is located at Orange Grove Road, just off Orchard Road and Tanglin Road there, right beside Shangri-La Hotel.... if u walk slowly from Orchard Road, might take 10 or 15 minutes to reach the hotel since it's quite some way in, but the area is i dunno, (maybe cozy?) and you can feel that it's at a slower pace than the hustle of Orchard road... There're lots of posh houses and service apartments on Orange Grove road, maybe that's why the area feels quieter too...

woots! looks like it's still SGD100 during XMas!! need to plan a trip soon!~

You mention backpacker hotel mah Backpacker hotels = Hostel or B&B leh..As Ami Tsun mentioned & my personal experience on backpecker hostel/Inn/motel & B&B in Siem Riep & Semporna within this year...It';s actually not bad. Cleaner than normal hotels

OPtherwise, youi can try Hotel 81 or gragrant hotels as I posted the link earlier..They are HOTEL.. & not so expensive...Hotel81..my famous hotel in Singapore is only RM100 2 yrs ago..althgough the listed/rack price is S$60 ..u can nego till S$50 for walk-in..they do have hourly rate...Teh Backpacker Inns/motel cleaner bcos no hanky panky..budget hotel like fragrant/Hotel81 ada punya but still clean lah..
