I used to take classes for softwares in form 1 to form 2, classes like flash, photoshop and dreamweaver.

I also used to make alot of graphics with photoshop around then, here's a link I loved visiting back then when making siggies and such. =D

On the details, it really depends what you wanna show, there is no right or wrong in art afterall. =)

@Milkshake
Hey, that's a good initiative, so you're interested in gaining some insight knowledge about traditional sculpting and basic arts before venturing into digital sculpting? But I've never heard of individual course involving only art of sculpting unless you're mentioning about taking short courses...

Yes I'm talking about short courses I don't want a degree in traditional sculpting it's just a bonus.

Ooh I see..

Okay guys in comparison would it be better to pursue a course in programming (C++, etc) or digital animation? :l
I'm actually interested in both but my dad is scaring the hell out of me right now on design..

haha finally someone with the same passion like me. well I am also interested in both programming (C++!!) and animation. and you know what, I learn both. i am TOA animation student (3rd year now) and I study programming by myself. it's actually quite easy to learn programming by myself i just need some books, internet and start coding! everything else is just your own logical thinking - how you put your idea into coding. study animation at college while learning programming by yourself - i think its the best way.

i'm 25 and leaving my stable banking work and pay to continue study art (my passion). Most probably in animation. It's a hard decision and i'm not getting much support from ppl around me.

Many issues has arised;
starting next year.. 3 years course. i'll be only working at 29.
GF wants to get married around 2 years time. how? leave her?
I'll be most probably living off my previous work's pay.. until i can get other source of income.

I'm taking a big risk here just so that I would love my job doing art instead of now. I've done my research and looks like TOA is my first choice now. I'll like to get some insight from the forumers on what is the average student age in toa? i'm afraid i can't blend in. How's the job prospect in the future? In reality malaysia isn't much of a good place for animators..

is it worth it to pursue my passion? Hope some current students in TOA get to reply me. thanks!

You will be working at 29 so what ? better than doing a job u don't like for the rest of ur life right ?
Talk to ur gf this is about ur future, you passion, what's important for both of you is to be happy if she can't wait one more year... well it's not really my business, just talk to her.

I'm 28 with exp in graphic design, a diploma in multimedia and i'm still going to TOA nxt year to get better in drawing/3D.
For the past 5 years I moved to France / Australia where I study while working part time in a hotel
I design stuff with ppl from different country, some friends in my class were 30 and more they were doing some crappy jobs and decided to do what they like.
If i want to I can get a full time job in a hotel back home and "start my life", save money... but there's no way I'm gonna do that.

Don't worry too much, I'm about to graduate from TOA, so from my experience in college, the lecturers are really helpful, its all about knowing what to ask. They are always updating/upgrading the computers for DG students and also MM students. Atm the comps we have are win7, i7 processors, 12gb ram and so on. I usually stay back in college with my team to work on our finals[they open 2 labs if you have to work during the midnight, but most of the labs are closed at 12].

I know a few people in college who are aged around their 30s too & still studying. And they are still watching animes and playing games, so hey, I don't think age really matters.

i dunno if i have the right to comment on ur post as im just a student that just grad from sec school and currently studying in TOA. the students there are around 18-21..but i don think its wrong for someone who are elder than us to pursue studies there lo..
and do u really interested in ur banking work? if not why wanna stick with something u don like until end of ur life? since u know its time to change, go ahead then..thats what i think la..IMO.. smile.gif

as for the animators career path, u have to ask the students who study digital animation or mayb u can do a lil bit searching on it?

For the MM students, yes. I saw all the new fresh boxes of iMacs outside the lab. xD
