yeah. they will come & check plus there's a fee to be paid for checking. forgot the actual amount. think RM100-200. anyway, do call Dell up & ask about it. smile.gif

if u din tell them the issue, they might randomly send the technician to recerf and check the system before approve.
just to be honest, tell them the problem. they will still give you quotation for warranty extended.

Update on my laptop:

Dell has agreed to replace my LCD hinges, optical drive, heatsink and fan in response to slow loading and heat related issues.

This is amazing. I guess I will be a Dell customer for a long time if the issue resolves with replacement.

I will update this thread accordingly once they arrive on Friday.

I guess dell will not offer upgrade from their intel wireless to broadcom wireless for foc. as the broadcom card might cost higher than intel card.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the very late reporting in. I'm an owner of Inspiron 6400 since June 2006. thumbup.gif

So guys, there is no way to repair your Dell laptop other than to call them right? You must have guessed I never asked this before because there was no problem at all until now. Actually, there's still nothing wrong with my laptop, only from my own carelessness. So my respect to Dell for making very good and reliable laptops. rclxms.gif

Few days ago, my little kid put some coins into my DVD drive, and now it's dead. And few weeks earlier, I don't know how he did it, most of the keys on my keyboard fell off, and it just simply not working anymore (using temporary USB keyboard for now). sweat.gif

Before I call them, I wonder how much would it cost? Is buying a new warranty the only way? Thank you so much in advance! notworthy.gif

PS: I've upgraded my laptop RAM to 4GB myself. biggrin.gif

Nope, only 3GB effective memory. It's the limitation for the 32-bit architecture. But I got 2 pieces of 2GB for a good price, so I just use them anyway. biggrin.gif

It will not be void, just open it. There's no safety stickers there.

You just shouldn't remove anything with the safety sticker, that will void the warranty.

The 1st two reason kinda acceptable but the 3rd one is totally not ok with that

Will check the slot & the ram
bought the lappie & upgrade the RAM immediately, the seller checked ok
after few years, the RAM kinda minus form the RAM bought

The back cover near the hinges popped up the other day and would need to be changed for RM 1xx

Would prolly just wait till the entire thing fails before I change it. sweat.gif
