i accidentally poured half cup of water into my laptop few days back. the water sipped thru the keyboard area & went down till the optical drive & battery compartment. thought my lappie would be dead after that as it just wouldn't power on anymore. everytime i switches it on, it'll on for 2 seconds then power off itself again. guess it sense some water-causing short circuit & turn off itself as a safety measure. but good sign is the mobo is still alive as if the mobo is dead, power on wouldn't even be possible anymore.
i resort to dismantle all the parts out & let 'em dry. took out the HDD, DVD writer, keyboard, battery & let it dry under the fan for a night. wiped everything dry & even tighten the hinge myself. follow all the dismantling steps thru our given user manual.
was really afraid to dismantle it as afraid that might not be able to fix 'em back later on but guess i'm really desperate till it gave me the courage to do it. my hinge was replaced once when it's still under CompleteCover & watched how the Dell technician dismantle everything last time so i guess it helps to know which parts should be taken off first etc.
i took everything out @ around 11PM & went straight to bed after that & wokd up @ around 9AM to install the whole thing back. was praying really hard that it will still on itself & back to its original state. miraculously, my lappie is ALIVE! or i gotta fork out some cash to get a new 1520 or M1330.
glad that it worked after that. was kinda lucky didn't poured the whole cup of water or the water was actually milk or something sticky. or my 6400 wouldn't be still alive today.
it's 2 years & 2 months old now & still going strong.
