Ok guys, I have been using my Inspiron 6400 for close to two years now.

It's starting to die on me. It's 2.0 GHz Core Duo 2MB L2 cache with 1GB DDR2 RAM.

However, the performance is seriously sub-par. It doesn't run as robustly as I first bought it. Even formatting the drive and reinstalling the OS doesn't work for me.

If I push the system, it would heat up, and when it does the CPU load hovers around 100% regardless of whether I stop my applications or not.

This sucks. I'm not alone on this. Even my friend has the same issue. He formatted, cleaned out the fan and still the performance issue persists.

If you're curious, no it's not spyware, no it's not viruses. I have Spybot S&D and NOD32 running.

You know what, the computer runs faster when NHC sets it to 1.00GHz because it's cooler.

Dell sucks.

Update on my laptop:

Dell has agreed to replace my LCD hinges, optical drive, heatsink and fan in response to slow loading and heat related issues.

This is amazing. I guess I will be a Dell customer for a long time if the issue resolves with replacement.

I will update this thread accordingly once they arrive on Friday.
