Hey guys I'm new to this thread. I've had my 6400 for more 2 years already. I'm having the 3 years complete cover, but recently I'm thinking of upgrading (adding 1 or 2 sticks of RAM). I searched on dell's website, a stick of 1GB DDR2 costs 364RM inc delivery.
Have anyone tried upgrading through dell? Or shall I buy the ram outside (which I suppose would be much cheaper) and install myself? Is there a seal on the laptop's cover which would void the warranty if it's broken?

Just call DELL Helpline and ask them about it

I'm thinking of bumping up my RAM too, currently 1GB. Having 3+ GB would help but I'm unsure if systems bought around mid '06 are able to support more than 2GB. Or are they all the same? Anyone else who bought their 6400 around that time have 2 sticks of 2GB RAM in their system?

Dont upgrade ram through dell. 1gb costs less than RM100.

Can the dell diagnostic be used on other pcs? Anyone tried?

Isn't it a little waste to have 2x 2GB dual channel when windows xp can only detect it as 3.5GB? (correct me if i'm wrong, I heard of this from a friend).
I'm going to hantam 2 x 2Gb also. Sick of lagging in games.
Btw, my current ones are of 533mhz, can anyone confirm if 6400 can support 667mhz ddr2?

other common spare part like processor, ram and hard disk, I guess you can get it easily but such as unique part like motherboard not so easy... unless there is 2nd had used unit want to sell out... no retailer for mb except direct from dell. I suggest the best is request quotation from dell to extend the warranty 1yr to replace mb, which is more worth on that. else think of new system la... call 1800881306

where does the BT card located for 640m? is it next to the battery like 6400?

Do you know what are the difference between the both? what i know is that BT 350 is the older version and the BT 355 is the never one!!

The BT for 350 is 7 metre and BT range for 355 is approximately 10 metre...do correct me if i'm wrong! smile.gif

thanks biggrin.gif
