QUOTE(William Somerset @ Mar 31 2013, 07:02 PM) I have my reservation for this movie after watching the trailers and tv spots released. I be lying if I said I don't have a bad feeling about this final installment. Something in me tells me that this movie will be perfect for a "Less Is More" lesson. It sure sounds like my hunch was right. I have yet to watch this movie and I wasn't excited about it either but now, I'm just going to skip it altogether. |

There is no dragon in the lore of the Mandarin. Fin Fang Foom is the dragon, but the Mandarin got his rings from that race

i think iron man 3 wasted "the mandarin" character just like that. really disappointed with that. Should've pick another villain. i'm not really a big fan of iron man, but i do some googling to see who's this mandarin. And he's far off from what he's supposed to be. i guess this is the way of the iron man 3 movie maker takes on bringing him to the "real life" because it's a bit hard to portrayed him just like in the comic i guess. with all his powers. 3/5 for me. there's so much explanation going on in this movie rather than action in this film, i get that because if not the audience would've not understand em, plus the action sequence is just so so. not really exciting. But i hope to see more of RDJ as iron man, i hope this won't be his last. As he really looks like tony stark.

For those who still are adamant about the mandarin...
QUOTE Choosing a villain was difficult, because Favreau felt Iron Man's archnemesis, the Mandarin, would not feel realistic, especially after Mark Millar gave his opinion on the script. He felt only in a sequel, with an altered tone, would the fantasy of the Mandarin's rings be appropriate. The decision to push him into the background is comparable to Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, or Palpatine in Star Wars. Favreau also wanted Iron Man to face a giant enemy. The switch from Mandarin to Obadiah Stane was done after Bridges was cast. Stane had originally been intended to become a villain in the sequel Iron man wiki |

Saw it last night, I have to say... it is slightly underwhelming. I am mostly disappointed with the Mandarin character, how 'we' got played by the ads and trailers, and I was sincerely wanting to see Ben Kingsley nail his villainous role. Unfortunately, that didn't go as planned. The various Iron Man suits was more of a 'cumulative' effort and nothing more. Pepper Potts was by far the one to watch and obviously, RDJ once again is a Iron Man... and in real-life. The whole fire-encroached bad guys are so cliche. The 'spitting fire' was too much.
8/10 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Dang it, didn't wait until after the credits. Saw it at MBO Kepong and everyone, and I mean everyone was out and it was past 11.30pm. |

QUOTE(InF.anime @ Apr 27 2013, 08:57 PM) Hey be cool, maybe that there is a real Mandarin but not yet come out. the real one is aldrich..he already said that in the movie. They just use an actor to imitate it. But the real one is still not yet come out in IM3, maybe will appear to teach Tony some lessons in the sequel man..i'm also disappointed with the mandarin character..another great villain wasted. they also make him look epic in the trailer, after watching the movie |

QUOTE(BeastX @ Apr 28 2013, 05:42 AM) I didn't understand why the anti IM brigade here didnt understand the end scene or appreciate it. It all make sense, to me at least. Right from the very beginning of the movie, we know tony was speaking as a 1st person to someone. We assume it's directed to us (the viewers) at the beginning.Mr genius is having PTSD, he probably could just walk straight into a normal civilian clinic to see the psychiatrist. It also opens up to an opportunity to have a light banter between the 2. (after avengers, we know this 2 have a 'thing' together Of course it would be in tradition as past movies to have mr nick fury walk in. But it done, that's done, mr shield had recruited his avengers. They expect nick to walk in to ask Tony stark permission to recruit more supes? Or perhaps revealing the idea of going against that other secret secret organisation that has their own membership? No offense guys but come on Mr downey jr is mr tony, he is at his element with narcissistic remarks. Why can't the little brigades see that? Right from the very beginning of the movie, we know tony was speaking as a 1st person to someone. We assume it's directed to us (the viewers) at the beginning. well, people were expecting some sort of build-up to the avengers 2 story..like what they did with past marvel movies.Mr genius is having PTSD, he probably could just walk straight into a normal civilian clinic to see the psychiatrist. Why can't the little brigades see that? but what do you get after waiting for like 10+ minutes? just tony talking to bruce banner..lol. after the mandarin, the post-credits scene is another slap in the face. |
