and the blardy warner bros, all backordered... will send out in no more than 30 days......

Dulu boleh. I remember early this year I got refund even for promotional offers. Remember also the last BOGO, I also received price-difference refund even for the free title! thumbup.gif

But now, yes, I've tried too, they always say cannot refund for purchases made during promotional offers. I guess they saw the glitch already. It's fair la... wink.gif

I am in Jakarta, Indonesia now. When i look around in Mangga Dua Shopping Mall, i saw these dvd vendors selling BLUERAY Discs, which consists of new movies and et cetera. I didnt get them though, but i would have if i have known more details about it. I am gonna go there again sometimes this week to get my self a Black 40gb PS3.

So, maybe i could grab some original BDs for myself they have new movies too in Indonesia surprisingly. I thought HD era is not so 'big' in Indonesia. I know it is not allowed talking or discussing about pirated contents in this forum or any other forum in the world, but its just about acquiring knowledge for a purpose.

So ive heard about normal standard DVD-quality movies being compressed into a BD-disc. Some might say, it is actually DOUBLE LAYER DVD being packed into a BD-finishing cover or some sort, as the PS3 will detect it as a DVD-DL and of course it is playable. So, for educational purpose i might go to the vendor again and try out how is the quality of the so called BD declines and will post my results here for you guys.

Thanks for the time.
*
Actually, should be the other way around. it's DOUBLE LAYER DVD, with the content ripped from BD. Try to put it in a cap ayam DVD player, it will play. biggrin.gif

Added on May 28, 2008, 11:13 pmalso dun miss out 1 solid title

kungfu hustle.... the PQ might just 4/5 but the AQ PCM is damm solid

especially on those kung fu scenes..one of the best i've experienced !

*
Yes, I agree. Especially the fight during the night, with the bad guys playing that musical instrument (don't know what), throwing darts, etc. They made good use of surrounds there. But the PQ is just 3 stars for me, definitely much better than DVD, but not as good as the Hollywood top releases.

QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ May 28 2008, 11:58 PM)
OMG poisonnn..hehe

hey guys, anyone got close encounters of 3rd kind? the rating was good for movie, AQ and PQ but any more personal reviews?

thought of buying it since i've never watched this classic before.  smile.gif
*
I'm sure you've seen it before on DVD or TV. But if you haven't, you'll love it if you like UFO stuffs and Spielberg. The PQ is superb, but the amount of grain might distract if you don't like it. It has both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA in 5.1 surround, which is fantastic but a little bit tinny for me, maybe because of how old the sound mix is.

A must buy for true fan (like me! tongue.gif ).

Just the way it should be. Lossless audio. The previous release on the other format only has Dolby Digital Plus, just because they don't have enough space on the disc. wink.gif

TUN aiman ....the PQ also ok la...some scene kinda soft...but some scenes kinda solid wink.gif

but hell...the AQ in PCM is rockxing  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

The PQ is good, very good actually. Just saying it's not up to other Sony releases like Spider-Man 3 which is TIER 0 standard. This one could be TIER 1 or 2 only.

I'm still waiting for Shaolin Soccer. That's my favorite Chow Sing Chi movie. Of course, his old LOL comedies I love too. biggrin.gif

I thought about getting a universal remote. But I'm too lazy to configure, especially the many buttons of the receiver's remote. And the price is quite a biggy too. sweat.gif

Anyone got the one Adam Sandler used? tongue.gif

You're right, there's no mention of Director's Cut. But if same transfer should be the same version I think.

Anybody watched Crank? It says 6.1 on the review sites, but my receiver is showing 7.1. I can hear sound coming out from both back speakers without turning on PLIIx.

Usually when I matrix to 7.1, the source indicator will always say 5.1 or 6.1 while the PLIIx indicator lights up on the receiver. But with Crank it the source is showing 7.1.

Another thing, the back cover doesn't say anything about 6.1 or 7.1, just PCM Uncompressed. Like the studio also not sure how many channel. hmm.gif

Yes, they usually do. But all 3 sites from the links above says 6.1. It's not annoying or anything, I actually welcome it to be 7.1 Really superb 5 star AQ (and PQ too).

Just curious. Did I get a special copy? tongue.gif

Even using optical you won't get to hear "true" sound. HDMI is the only way.

The signal you received already downmixed by your PS3 to stereo. Pro-Logic, as it's name suggests, uses logical algorithms to matrix the stereo into 5.1 (or 5.2).

Get a dedicated HDMI receiver to truly enjoy the wonderful lossless HD sound. The new yamaha RX-V663 costs around RM1.8k only.

If there are too much problems with customs, yes.

I've been buying things from StarWarsShop.com since 2002, but last year I was surprise that they don't ship to Malaysia anymore. I wrote an email to them, and they replied saying the reason was "issues with customs". I bought my "Crystal Skull" t-shirt last year and had it shipped to my friend in U.K. instead. So, be careful guys. Seriously.

thanks for the explanation! unfortunately, i just bought the sony 5.2 system...at 999...since it was affordable and entry level, i settled for optical input la. no hdmi.

currently got my 360 hooked up via optical and games+dvds sound great. only that some movies have very low sounding dialogue...dunno if it's my system setting..already adjusted optimal levels for front speakers. maybe it's the movie itself?

maybe i would try both stereo and optical output for PS3 later after getting BDs. too bad also that the receiver has only 1 optical input. sad.gif

ah well, when the time comes to upgrade...i'll upgrade.  icon_rolleyes.gif

With your setup, the best is optical. You'll not get to hear the lossless audio though.

With optical, you need to set BD/DVD output as bitstream, not Linear PCM, or you'll always get 2-channel PCM no matter which audio format you listen too.

If bitstream selected, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA will be downgraded to the normal Dolby Digital (448 or 640 Kbps) and DTS (1.5 Mbps, still hi-res at least) respectively. But for uncompressed PCM audio is worst, it will still be downmixed to 2 channel even with bitstream. So at least you don't have to use pro-Logic with DTS and Dolby.

That's the best setting for your current setup, for now. I'm smelling HDMI receiver in the near future! rclxms.gif

And yeah, get the splitter. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(rx330 @ May 31 2008, 11:31 AM)
get a optical splitter, easier thumbup.gif

Yes. This is serious guys. Kastam will start to target Amazon if the size of the boxes keep getting bigger and bigger. And Amazon will start doing marketing analysis. Will the big number of package returns/lost still acceptable for them to do business with us?
