Anyone has experience going to blue mountain? Better to drive, take public transport (train to katoombah and then public bus) , tour coach, hop on hop off bus?
Just for a day trip
*
the last time I took a day tour from Wollongong. It also depends on how many of you are going. If there are 4 of you, renting a car would be more convenient cause you get to stop at different places and easier to move around.
I have not tried taking the train and public bus.

The ETA having short validity. If I'm not mistaken only 3 month or less..and validity start from the day u get the approval. So better plan properly when you want to apply.. If you going to stay longer, better apply closer to the date of departure
*
no bro it valid for 1yr from the date you applied...you can enter multiple of times within that year

i went to Sydney for about 7 days on last December.

here are some tips from me:

1. get the public travel pass. you can use almost all public transport with a single pass for a week. i travelled to katoomba by train, visiting the blue mountain on one day and the newcastle (if not mistaken) on the other day.
2. always check the bus timetable using your smartphone. the buses are very accurate with 1 minute tolerance. dont forget to check for the last service should you wish to stay out late.
3. get a good sim card for your smartphone. i used Optus which costed me AUD10 for 5 days, with 500mb of high speed quota daily.
4. you may enjoy any cuisine along the streets, they look delicious. but for muslims, you may try the chinatown or for quick access the Nando's chain. there are also few shops selling sandwiches at Circular Quay, but what i enjoyed most was a Lebanese restaurant at Granville (you have to take a train about 30 mins from Circular Quay) called El Jannah, and priced reasonably cheap.
5. always check for exchange rate at money changer if you need extra cash. they might even impose a certain amout of commision.
6. be friendly and dont feel shy to ask from the locals.
7. lost item? check back the last place you had the item and ask the authorities. i lost my iphone 5 and they still have it waiting for the rightful owner to claim.

so far the pork ribs from Hurricane is the best and reasonable price for me but you must book ahead first. pancake on the rock is quite popular but not that crowded

going to sydney in 1 month times at early july. .

Plan to travel by MyMulti 3 pass
5 days in sydney, day trip to blue mountain and hunter valley.

I m not a wine person, anyone can share their experience with hunter valley tour? any tour company for recomendation for the day trip?

For blue mountain, i think i will travel on my own via train then using the explorer bus there instead of joining a tour..

Since it's winter in sydney during july, any idea what type of clothes i should bring? will it be colder in blue mountain?

if you are not the wine person then you can skip the winery tour.

july will be around 8-20c but mostly about 15c. one jacket is enough for me unless you can't handle cold. maybe u can prepare scalf in case there is strong wind
