I htink this natica will be in as a 2WD not a 4WD car.

It has already been confirmed that this will be a 4wd.

I hope Perodua won't be going the Kia Carnival way...first cbu from korea and then assembled here and rebadged as Naza Ria and sold more cheaply...there would be a lot of disgruntled people...

The Nautica might be a good hype since this will be Perodua's first CBU car, first 1.5 litre and definitely first to have such a hefty price tag.

But my question is, what happens next?

Is the public supposed to expect Perodua to churn out 1.6 or even 1.8 litre cars? I think the public will.

And will Perodua be able to deliver? This remains to be seen.

I respected Perodua because they created a niche market for themselves. Compact, no frills, affordable and cute. Now they are moving into Proton's ground by releasing a 1.5litre, and even creating some ripples in the Toyota and Honda market for the RM80k price tag.

The BIG BOYS didn't give much thought into conquering Perodua's land, because Perodua weren't threatening. They were just delivering to their small market, a market which the big boys didn't venture into. Now the plot has changed.

So where will Perodua stand after the release of the Nautica? What will be their positioning?

I don't know. But I can see it will be tough times ahead.

Agreed. Perodua bringing in CBU cars & rebadge it as their own, but I don't understand why are they doing that. Perodua did mentioned previously that it will be a low volume sale. It is understood that compact, no frills, and affordable is what they had been applying in the yesteryears but Perodua selling imported model?

Is Perodua becoming a proxy for Toyota selling left-over that they couldn't sale?

Toyota is playing dirty. They've introduced the Rush, people want it but too expensive. So its sibbling introduces this Nautika thingy. The same thing, shorter, slightly cheaper. People with less money will buy, and will change the emblem to toyota's for sure. sweat.gif

hmm it seems that perodua has become the 'orang tengah' for toyota to bring in their models. A national car maker but sell CBU cars? where is the logic in that?

It seem that really toyota has perodua under their thumbs

Whats wrong is that it will increase the price of the car. it does not make sense if the car sells at 90k and higher priced than the toyota rush.

Even the Rush has benn taxed a lot so perodua selling it higher priced than the rush is can be seen as plain greed by perodua

what's the point of selling the same Perodua Nautica @ Toyota Rush in the M'sian market? it's still the same car right? if the price gap is lil, i doubt Perodua would be able to make profit from the sales.

Toyota Rush (based on Advanza platform/chassis/wheel base, with a rush like outer body/shell) is CBU from Indonesia which enjoy less tax (about 30% less).

A true Rush chassis (shorter wheel base) with AWD system CBU from Japan would be much better but much higher tax.

Just wait and see, probably after a while Perodua might local assemble it and could be cheaper? That time the Rush/Terios may go for new generation.

Actually the Toyota Rush that from Indonesia is same chasis with the Japanese Rush/Terios. Only with longer body to fit the third row of seat. Same as the old Terios(our Kembara) know as Daihatsu Taruna in Indonesia.

The only things is the current Rush from Indonesia have lower tax due to AFTA. And the new Nautica is from Japan have difference tax structure.

and it also 300kg more heavy. the 1500cc engine is just too small to support it's weight.

Perodua has become the slave/servant of Toyota's imperialism. Indirect attack on the national car market if you ask me. CBU from a national car maker, it is a disturbing move considering the nature of the company. But who cares, capitalists wins !

ppl nowadays usually look at badge, size, appearance when buying a car, what's underneath was not so significant from what i can see.

rush is base on avanza with prettier skins,it is an expensive way of buying an avanza, but ppl don't see that

nautica is base on daihatsu terious,a car for british market, has different underpinning from the rush/avanza,has different drive system (4wd),different interior(exactly the one you get in terious),shorter wheelbase means will be nimbler arround town, but all in all ppl see the skin and forget the substantial.
