if it's above rm80k, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of buying a p2? i thought the whole idea of a p2 is so that it's cheap? hmm.. if that's the case, 4WD are now supposily classed above the average sedan car?

no more cheap 4WD for off-roading
It is not true 4WD... more like AWD... Toyotas that are able to to true Full-Time 4WD are the Fortuner, Surf, Prado and Landcruisers. No low gear ratios... and probably no lock down to allow equal distributions to all wheels. The dual cabs are only capable of 4WD during off-roading, 2wd on tar..

5 seater, awd Rush retails about 55 to 60k in japan.

Toyota Rush (based on Advanza platform/chassis/wheel base, with a rush like outer body/shell) is CBU from Indonesia which enjoy less tax (about 30% less).

A true Rush chassis (shorter wheel base) with AWD system CBU from Japan would be much better but much higher tax.

Got news from SA manager this unit going to be around 100K
If it's 80k I'm sure alot ppl already scratching heads on whether to buy or not, but @ 100k good luck!
A cbu.... 100k price ... half goes to the Mal. gov. .... More inline with the current retail price of Rush in Japan.

4WD on Rush/Terios/Nautica is an AWD system, 4WD on double cabs (and Ford Everest) are only partial 4x4. Fortuner, Hilux Surf, and the Landcruisers are the ones truly capable of Full-time 4x4 in all terrain

unless the gov change the tax system.... nautica should cost at around 90k and above... about 30 to 35k of the price goes straight into gov. coffers...

25% off... japan made car... x115% excise, import and sales tax... maybe a few k off from my calculations...under declared?

This is not even an SUV, more like a Kembara replacement. At such a high price? Ppl would rather buy a Triton/Hilux/Ranger/D-Max ler...much bigger and more powerful. Now with the green diesel engine, road tax is also affordable.
Its a loop hole that dual-cabs/single-cab pick-ups escape tax... sales tax(10%) still apply thou...
And only dual-cabs can use for non-commercial purpose..

Dual-cabs ... the only non-commercial vehicle (other than in Labuan and Langkawi)... that you are paying for what is worth... and a higher profit margin earn by the manufacturer.

National Automotive Policy is to protect all carmakers, that includes P1, P2 (consider national?) and ridiculously Naza.
Not P1 alone doh.gif
protecting while earning a big bundle of cash from those who dare to buy other brands, increasing also earnings to the national car builders as there is little competition for the price point. No competition, inflated price, lacks quality control (or not as stringent) as there is no alternatives. All of which burdens the consumers

nautical is the real deal awd 4x4 (like an oem ver)... the Malaysian/Indonesian Rush is an Advanza with some of Rush interior and Exterior (like a cut and paste job).

Most owners probably won't use the 4x4 anyway and turn it off for better fuel consumption.....
Natica's (& Kembara's) AWD system is engaged all the time (where most of the power goes to the 2 front wheels, back wheels only kick in in certain situations)... there is no option to switch to exclusively 2wd.. the only switch you have is to lock the central diff. so that all 4 wheels get the same power. This is only used if you are in a muddy/gravel/sand pits. Definitely not for tar roads even in wet situations. Some sales people and customers don't know this and ending up destroying/damaging their gears/axle/central diff.

Very few cars have the option for 4wd and 2wd on tar roads... of all of Toyota's models only Hilux Surf comes to mind.

er..if the Pro2 NaughtyCar is more "original" then the Suzzy...why the Suzzy is selling wayyy better then the Pro2?

and if full time 4wd is the "in demand" thing rite now...why cant we see more of the Pro2 otr?
Nautica is the cheapest CBU import from Japan (cost 45 to 50k in Japan). With the current Nautica price against the current Yen rate.. it is considered even cheaper... you pay approx RM30k in taxes and transport only and a few non-essential pieces of Malaysian made plastic.

Suzzy is a CBU from Indo which enjoy a lower tax bracket (then from Japan) you also pay approx 30k in taxes. Nautica, by right, should be tax higher, but Nautica had to be priced competitively to Rush, so gov. took a tax cut in earnings for Pro2.

So u pay approx the same taxes to the gov., but with Nautica you get a Japan built quality/better interior/safety and the satisfaction that gov. had to make an exception in tax for a CBU Jap car.

An AWD Nautica is safer to drive in wet conditions, more grip, probably minimal increase in fuel consumption (but Nautica may weight slightly less than Suzzy Rush)

The suzzy higher demand is because of the Toyota brand name and people's ignorance to the actual value of the car. Nautica also suffers from limited AP being granted to import from JP.

I don't understand why some people are stupid enough to buy the Nautica as a car to get from point A to point B. Why the hell they need full time 4WD on city? LOL.

Even those pick ups and certain 4x4s in urban areas are switched to rear wheel drive.

Furthermore, the Nautica isn't cheap in the first place. Secondly it is not even large. And thirdly, it's not even that powerful. hmm.gif As for kembaras, there are still some contractors using them, but most of them have switched to pick ups such as Hilux, Triton and D-Max.
I believe all pick-up in Malaysia will have to run rear 2WD on urban roads because they do not have central-diff. or termed as partial 4WD. Big-Horns and Everest are partial 4WD also... Fortuner, Pajero Sport (Pardo/LC) are capable of Full-Time 4WD on all conditions.

I just saw this car in Penang carpark, with a pretty new Penang number plate (PH* ). Perodua started selling this car again? I must say it looks pretty good and probably the toughest looking perodua car yet.
CBU mah...
