But the price tag... hmm... not something that I can afford without sacrificing monthly financial freedom.

Forget about engineering marvel, the relationship between Toyota and UMW and Perodua seems like in a deep pool of murky water...

Toyota Rush - 7 seater - 1.5l engine - Avanza Platform (Indon...keke)

P2 Nautica - 5 seater - 1.5l engine - BeGo Platform (Nippon...oooh)

Power to Weight ratio, P2 Nautica should win, logically speaking.

But, if you are to resell your car, I believe a Toyota badge still worth more than a P2. Somehow, nowadays, selling your car is a losing game, no matter how much "more" you can sell.

CBU would be a lil outrageous consider the status as a National Car maker. But I can see that miscommunication between Toyota and P2 would be their idea on the concept of branding.

P2 thought that by having Daihatsu as the major stake holder and have importance in making corporate decision, they would uplift local automobile industry and contributes technologically.

Somehow, to Daihatsu, their idea is to sell their car here with a different badge, like Honda with Acura and Toyota with Lexus. No qualms about it. If Fuji Heavy Industries are going to do the same with their Subaru here with a name like Macambaru, I would drool with the local price tag. I don't give a damn to the taxes.

Automobile tax is like a complete crap to feed those fat tub of lard with some indecent cold hard cash. When local automobile maker source sponsorship or investment fund from various channel to come up with a proper R&D scheme and try to bring out a real local car, the custom just tax here and there on imports but never seen any of those easy money helps the local car industry to grow!!! Protecting the local automobile industry? My foot!!! Those who are taxing are the one who are buying imports TAX FREE. They sure got those nook and cranny but if those tax aren't bringing any benefit at all to the nation might as well scrap it and throw local automobile into the global market game. Enough of those, "we are not ready to swim in the big sea, noo....". In order to survive and to redeem oneself from humiliation, we can see a lot of miracles and outstanding figures came up with ideas and ways to restructure and at the same time will rear much TRUE UGLY FACES that will quit the car making game and beg from the Gov.

I hope more of this CBU will come in and kill the local car industry. No point having em here when they are creating a lot of job opportunity, well, for foreigners !!!

job opportunity is for us all...malaysians..not foreigners lo...if more foreigners get d job here, i m not suprised to hear news regarding grads that were given scholarships from malaysian government to settle down in foreign countries and finding better opportunity than living like hell in own country

Personally the concept of a National Car is outmoded regardless of where it's assembled. It still doesn't disguise the fact the car isn't a 100% a Malaysia Boleh effort.

No kidding Kembara owners actually do take their trusty P2 Kembara's off road lets see a Rush do that

Its typical early adopters should learn to expect it. This happens from cars to iPods Deal with it

I'm sure Perodua's market research indicated this is the right direction to go... it's a market space where P1 is not present and there is already a ready market of loyal Kembara owners waiting to upgrade.

I participated in a P2 survey and the proposed Nautica checks items off most of my wish list

Right on top my list:-

More potent engine (Scrap the 1.3l)
4WD is a must
Compact and Street Smart looks (I didn't want a Kangaroo bar sticking out front)

Price is moot, if the equipment and trim is up to par or better and it meets buyers requirements then they get what they paid for.

For me fewer seats are better 5 is sufficient. As long as I can shop at Ikea and carry home Queen Size beds with a wardrobe or 6'ft long table and my grandmother�s wheelchair I'm happy.

I choose the current 1.3 Kembara Aero over the Avanza 1.3 coz I felt it's wasteful to lug around so many empty seats and I can go where no Avanza can

Keeping my fingers crossed I'm keeping my Kembara for another 2 years or less.

Hopefully the price is better when I decide to upgrade or maybe a Nautica Aero facelift

If it's 80k I'm sure alot ppl already scratching heads on whether to buy or not, but @ 100k good luck!

Definitely one reason not to buy one, but then again, it doesn't have competition to compete with if you ignore the grey imports.

100K? better take grand vitara.....my friend saw a lot of nautica just know...doing their tv advertisment for nautica....haha..kata nye cute...slightly bigger than normal kembara and smaller a bit than RUSH...but i already bought Rush ler.....
