And how do you know people don't need a cheap full-time 4WD?

Different car catered for different individual you know.

About the original part, it is a Daihatsu bearing a Perodua badge. It's a marketing strategy under the Head Company.

Well, I might be wrong anyway. blush.gif

Because the Rush is using the Avanza's platform instead of the Terios? And that the Terios was originally meant for 5-seater?

If I'm wrong then I humbly apologize here notworthy.gif

lol if you really need a real full time 4WD, u dun buy it cheap, as there is a saying "you pay what you get". kembara is not really suitable for off road. its rather fragile. tats explain why tat are lots of hilux, storm,...etc. im not sure about nautica though.

and if there are ppl who can afford to pay for the expensive FC for 4WD, would they even consider a cheap 4WD?

or if you saying for makcik doing business, opening up stalls, so need a 4WD, erm it doesnt carry as much as vans or MPV, and why pay for the high FC where theres other cheaper sedan can do the same job rite?

anyway, its true there are ppl might wan to buy cheap SUV, but i think its rather minority, at least in msia wink.gif

I don't understand why some people are stupid enough to buy the Nautica as a car to get from point A to point B. Why the hell they need full time 4WD on city? LOL.

Even those pick ups and certain 4x4s in urban areas are switched to rear wheel drive.

Furthermore, the Nautica isn't cheap in the first place. Secondly it is not even large. And thirdly, it's not even that powerful. hmm.gif As for kembaras, there are still some contractors using them, but most of them have switched to pick ups such as Hilux, Triton and D-Max.

This SUV is in the category of a cheaper option compared to RAV4, CRV & Freelander, mostly for auntie-use in urban area. In western countries it's a safer option for them due to the slightly off-terrain/snow, in Malaysia usually for the poth-hole laden roads & slippery/flooded roads, it's just a safer option for aunties here compared to cars.

toyota rush is not the original diahatsu terios as terios was designed as orignally 5 seater compact SUV whereby toyota rush is using exiting avanza platform.

nautica is an imported CBU with only cosmetic changes when came here like the perodua badge, the bumper and the steering wheel for an instance. when you look underneath the hood, its daihatsu spare parts all over.

if wan information about the review, ya, check out under daihatsu terios because this car was launched during 2005. only ppl with shallow mind thinks its a new SUV manufactured by perodua, double standard doh.gif

Nautica is the cheapest CBU import from Japan (cost 45 to 50k in Japan). With the current Nautica price against the current Yen rate.. it is considered even cheaper... you pay approx RM30k in taxes and transport only and a few non-essential pieces of Malaysian made plastic.

Suzzy is a CBU from Indo which enjoy a lower tax bracket (then from Japan) you also pay approx 30k in taxes. Nautica, by right, should be tax higher, but Nautica had to be priced competitively to Rush, so gov. took a tax cut in earnings for Pro2.

So u pay approx the same taxes to the gov., but with Nautica you get a Japan built quality/better interior/safety and the satisfaction that gov. had to make an exception in tax for a CBU Jap car.

An AWD Nautica is safer to drive in wet conditions, more grip, probably minimal increase in fuel consumption (but Nautica may weight slightly less than Suzzy Rush)

The suzzy higher demand is because of the Toyota brand name and people's ignorance to the actual value of the car. Nautica also suffers from limited AP being granted to import from JP.

That was not an inmature comment. It is people like you who has not accepted reality. Proton is the reason why we do not have free and fair competition. Trust me I drive a Proton Waja and the car is only 2 years old and the power window does not work. My God that car was launched in 2001 and Proton can't even make a decent power window. The biggest joke is they want to get involved in F1.

That is the problem again with the typical Malaysian "Entrepeneur". Making a fast buck out of the Public.

I believe all pick-up in Malaysia will have to run rear 2WD on urban roads because they do not have central-diff. or termed as partial 4WD. Big-Horns and Everest are partial 4WD also... Fortuner, Pajero Sport (Pardo/LC) are capable of Full-Time 4WD on all conditions.

How many of you who actually 'see' Nautica on the road?

I think I have only seen less than 10 times this car on the road since its lauching, even that probably the same car!

I think Perodua should do something to achieve their 200 car per month target.

Added on January 27, 2010, 10:23 pmAnyone selling his/her Nautica? Pls let me know....

On their website, it is not even listed in their 'car' section any longer. Have they discontinued selling them?
