QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Jun 10 2008, 10:41 PM) Yup...true true....ok i'll keep on doing my research.... My goodness.... your questions all are like from people who never research yet at all. You don't even know their natural sounds. Please please, I really really beg of you to go and do your homework on sugar gliders. They are not some play thing where you can buy one today coz cute and ignore them a few weeks later coz they do not bond with you or bite you or run away. They are totally different from pets like hamsters, need a whole lot of care and attention. Most of us even turned nocturnal a bit since we gotta play with our gliders. Are you willing to do that?Added on June 10, 2008, 10:51 pmQuestion of the day--> Does it bite(wat is crabing?)...Issit painfull? QUOTE(kelvin_faye @ Jun 10 2008, 10:56 PM) when i go pets wonderland in mid valley or pet safari in ikano, i do really get tempted to buy the SG asap!!! but i know dat if i do that, i may end up having fun in the early days only as the SG babies or we call joeys sold there are underaged!! they din get enuf nutrition from their mommy in their early days, thus they will not last long in the long run.. meaning htey have shorter life span compared to u get from reputable breeder like crazymouse, reanne or bonai in lyn forum... Superb! You really have done your homework. Good good, looks like you are nearer to your dream of having a joey. Hahaha.... gerbils of course can get away with but glider harder coz of their various sounds at night. Later people thought you keeping puppy if the glider barks.what for we want a short life span one rite?? imagine u get so attached to him d, then one day u realise dat he doesnt lived as long as 10years... wanna regrets at that time?? NO for me!! so hun, i am gonna wait till i am ready enuf k!!! hehe so what ya think?? research or get them now?? btw, where r u staying? u work or study le? QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 10 2008, 11:03 PM) Good question.... I would say why get a pet at all? Coz anything with a mouth can bite if they are scared. Even humans.QUOTE(bonai @ Jun 10 2008, 11:41 PM) faizpsp89, please stop posting and go read the 1st page again.. even if you say you have read, please read it again.. and again.. until u understand.. True, handling a glider first would be good. Followed by tonnes of reading hahahah.btw, get in touch with any glider owner here, maybe you should try to handle a glider before you actually consider getting one.. |

What is it with people with these sigar glider impulsive buying habits. Do not fully understand the needs and requirements and want to keep these pets. Crazymouse, maybe you need to create a Sugar Glider Awareness Campaign

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Jun 10 2008, 08:57 PM) Each glider have different ways of being bonded. One way is scent marking your body by leaving trails of pee. If pee and poo at one go on you, that is just normal, not really a sign of bonding but more like using you as a toilet coz that is how they treat their favourite tree. If they scent mark you like leaving droplets of pee on you, rubbing their head and chest on you, then that means it is showing you that you are part of it's family. Jumping back on you, not all gliders do that. Kiah is so laid back that when she is on humans, she won't really jump away. She rather crawl on to your arm or hand. If Kapi, she is super adventurous so she would jump at other things that has caught her interest. Keera is the naughty glider as she would jump on everyone and anything to explore but she would jump back to me. If they are comfortable with their surroundings, then they would rather explore than be on you. Just let it be. It really takes time. ggMing's glider can would jump back on him is it feels insecure in a new place. My Kiah and Kapi won't really jump away if they feel insecure. Being scared is a different thing. Normally when a glider is scared, they would either jump back on their owner or hide in their pouch. Why? Secure, well known by them and they know there is no danger if hide in pouch or on you. Yes, that's true. Every glider has different way of being bonded and different personalities from one another. Although some can look confusingly similar and you can't tell them apart from the look, the personality will definitely give way to who is who Most of the time when a glider feels safe to explore they will not want to come back to you immediately, but if they feel unsure of a place, new smell, sounds and sights, they will then seek the one place they feel familiar and safe, that is you and their pouch. QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Jun 10 2008, 09:47 PM) yeah...if its around my budget i might buy it...Anywas is this SG scared of bird?I have a parrot though... Yes, gliders don't go well with birds. If you have a bird and glider, they must be kept in separate area or room. QUOTE(mamata @ Jun 10 2008, 09:51 PM) Anything pun cannot pun in the same cage with glider ley, very dangerous... QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Jun 10 2008, 10:41 PM) That is one of the MOST Basic question that you should already know. Crabbing is probably the first sound you will hear when you get a glider. Tell me, what bite is not painful? Even human baby bite also can be painful what... QUOTE(faizpsp89 @ Jun 10 2008, 11:01 PM) Can I cut Your teeth? If cannot, then the answer is the same. KP |

QUOTE(kelvin_faye @ Jun 11 2008, 10:15 AM) KP, Actually, it won't be too small if you get a 8 week OOP joey. At that age, they are already independent, can explore and be adventurous. Some people make the mistake of purchasing extremely small cages coz they thought joeys not active.... more like if you have an underage joey, then of course not really active and underage joeys should not really have a cage but an incubator to keep warm.i thought of getting the Luxury cage.. but am also thinking wont it be too big for a joey at first..? the height also.. or shud i take small cage first.. coz later i wanna add partner to the SG after bonding.. think wanna one shot go for the Luxury Cage at petshack... ur opinion? or i hang everything low low at first i get the suggie?? to be safe for her.. If you wanna get the 3ft cage, then it is fine too coz sometimes you would need a spare cage if you are traveling. But it's up to you lah. QUOTE(ekazakaria @ Jun 11 2008, 10:30 AM) buy both luxury and medium cage will be a good idea if u can afford it..the luxury one can be put permanently in your house and the medium cage can be use as hotel..hahahahaha...that what i'm planning to do anyway..so if I balik kampung, i can put my suggies in medium cage..hopefully they don't get crabby bila tukar-tukar rumah... Memang is a good idea. Smaller cages are good for traveling. Gliders can get used to traveling but it takes time to adjust. I'm now boarding Kerell's joey and spe'il's joeys. All of the joeys had a first bad day. Have no appetite, kept staying in pouch, don't wanna leave their pouch and kept being around their owner's smelly shirt. This is the drawback with a change in environment and owners. That is why I told you earlier that it would be best if you and your sis bond equally with the gliders, then you won't really have this problem.Eka |

I don't mind going for the Luxury Cage terus No cage is too big for a glider If you get a smaller one first, then you need to get the bigger one later also which will make you pay double time right? Why waste? Get the big one terus if you can No need to hang everything low... The trees and the size of area in the wild is much taller and bigger right? I do also need a spare cage for travelling in future. Will they get stressed out when you move them between cages and go on car rides?

Yupss, and thats what we gonna do...we already discuss the pros and cons and decide it will be better both of us bond equally with the gliders rather than treat the gliders as separate owner's pet...at least when i travel, the gliders won't be so crabby around my sis...just scared the gliders love my sis more than me... Will they get stressed out when you move them between cages and go on car rides? If you travel like back hometown and such, then yes, you'll need top prepare one for traveling. Switching cages will stress them a little, normally the first night will bark and such, but they should be okay as long as you ensure them that you are close to them Car rides are not as stressful if you travel during the day when they sleep. Thanks for the reply KP. A smaller sized one (of course a decent sized one) will do just fine right?

Flexarium? does it look a bit like those zip up plastic wardrobes found in supermarkets just that they use netting instead of plastic?
