Ok, today, while I am setting up my glider cage in preparation for the joeys tomorrow, I find it quite challenging to put the tunnel, hammock and sleeping pouch nicely.

Anyone want to share with me how you arrange your settings?

Oh, I really need to have a close look on how we should tie the wodent wheel. I cannot hentam saje, CFP. I want an optimal arrangement so it's not so cramped up.

Wondering if the cage need stairs... I will have to actually see them living in it to know things better. Experience = best teacher!

Well, the arrangement is up to you. Normally in our type of cages, they got no urge to glide. More like just jump and hop around the cage. Sleeping pouch normally at the side, hammock you can put it hanging at the top area of the cage, Tunnel can be the middle area. Is up to you.

It looks fine. How big is the cage gonna be? Since you are using mesh, you don't really need a fan for it. The circulation is good enough.

Tie Wodent wheel.... I normally tie at the top with it's stand upside down. That saves space and it creates less noise.

Anyway, your joeys.... heheheh... hope you enjoy them. 1 is not so crabby, another is.... one has baby face and the other has a longer foxy face. Their age gap is about 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks apart.

I need to see how it's setup. The cage comes with 3 platforms and 3 stairs. I dont know how many I should use. I ended up putting 2 platforms and a stair. One platform on the upper right, another on the lower left and the stairs connect lower left to ground of the cage. The food bowls are slightly above the lower left. Not sure if the food bowls should be kept on the platform so they dont fall while they're eating.

Hammock can hang at the top area. Pouch at the side but how do you get the tunnel in the middle? This I need to see and thanks for the idea with the wheel. I will tie it upside down as well if it's less noisy. I will use cable-tie to hold it together.

Oooo... one baby look, one foxy lady! Yay yay!! Thank you very much and looking forward to see you later. I will bring my sister over to watch your lesson! See you soon!

You can take a look at Pet Shack later, there got a cage with the stuff hung inside, so you can copy it hahahah. The platforms is up to you, for me, I use all the platforms but I use only 1 ladder. You can get some ideas with buying those natural ropes from hardware stores but before you use, you gotta soak in some mild soapy water and sun in for 1 whole day before usage lah.

Ok, I'm gonna go and handle your girls and also Yang's boy. Hahahah... I'm gonna be very crabby later....

Is up to you. My cage is like a circus tongue.gif and my gliders enjoy jumping and climbing on the ropes. I'll try to get a pic, it is always dark and can't see much coz my background also dark loh.

Sometimes the ropes from hardware store may be dirty, who knows how long they have kept it or what kinda glaze or wash was use to preserve the ropes. So when you soak in soapy water, it can get rid of the excess oils and glaze, then it cleans the ropes too. I sometimes add a few drops of Detol to make sure no bacteria is on the ropes. Sunning it dries the wet ropes. This is all precaution only.

Anyway, you and your sis will have alot of bonding and handling to do. You must try and not be scared of the nipping and crabbing hahaha.... but don't worry, your girls rarely nip. They just show their dislike by crabbing.

Crabble? ahaha.... new kinda sound is it? Is crab or crabbing or crabby, depends on your grammar.... but not crabble.

It is normal for gliders to want and hide back in the pouch. And it takes time for them to trust you. Good that they are doing great. Take a picture of them and post here so that we can judge if they should take milk or not. And please don't just give apples everytime. Give other type of fruits like mango, papaya, honeydew, ciku, rambutan.... the list goes on.

Anyway, I wouldn't advice people to get a male and a female at once. You know there is a chance of Rachel becoming pregnant too early, resulting in her being stunted in growth, or the joey not 100% healthy. We normally encourage people to get a female first, then wait 2 to 3 months before getting a male.

I took precaution with mine, and only introduce a male when my female gliders were past 6 months old. That way, once the male is mature to breed, the female already is strong, healthy and her body can take the burden of having joeys.

A few owners here have neutered their males to avoid such breedings. And males that are neutered won't be smelly and stinky, won't be botak and won't musk.

Hahaha... good advice Evan.

Yes, just use a brush, either the small animal brush sold at Pet Shack or just a tooth brush. Then get powder that is meant for small animals or puppies. I got 1 in my Garage sales. Do not use baby powder coz it is not safe as the talcum can cause breathing problems for small animals.

Just wipe with a wet cloth or those wet wipes.

Although it has been said... NO HAMSTER BALL for gliders!

It's called a hamster ball, not glider ball...

Okay, sorry for re-emphasizing it again... Wanna make it clear for other people too smile.gif

Yeah, I think 2 platforms are good enuff smile.gif

The food bowl can be hanged anywhere in the cage and not necessarily need a platform to support it, gliders love to "hang-out and eat" brows.gif

Ohh, and they won't fall, trust me wink.gif

For the wodent wheel, use cable ties to tie the stand to the cage. Tie the stand at the top of the cage or at the side also can, whichever is convenient for you smile.gif

I'll post up some close up pixs soon lah smile.gif

Enjoy you suggie cage interior designing! wink.gif

It's crab or crabbing smile.gif

If they are big enuff, they won't take milk anymore.

Do ensure they get more than just apples yah... Change their fruit types everyday, add more variety smile.gif

Okay, I'm just gonna put up my 2 cents here about those who get under aged joeys and hand feed them or nurse and then let it go to other people after the so-called 2 months OOP period

OR

those who breed but still taking them off their parents earlier and nurse the joeys yourself before letting it go after the so-called 2 months OOP period...

BOTH are equally WRONG!

Because although you so-called help nurse during the 2 months period, you only help them to pass the 2 months OOP period but not preparing them with the health, nutrition and antibody they need to fend themselves if they fall sick or the prolong their lifespan...

To me, there is no point in saying "I will keep them/nurse them until 2 months before letting it go" because this proves that what you have in hand is still an under aged joey.

I don't mind anyone selling joeys by getting them from a breeder or so on... BUT... YOU play an important role by selecting and insisting on a fully weaned joey FROM the breeder. Don't think it's OKAY to get the under aged joeys and nurse yourself before letting it go BECAUSE this will help support the breeder to keep providing under aged joeys to you and to everyone else.

Honestly, saying that you will nurse the joey until 2 months before letting it go, still makes the joey WAS under aged when YOU take it...

Furthermore, DON'T ever complain about having to nurse an under aged joey... YOU made the choice yourself to get it in the first place, not anyone else okay.

These thoughts of mine goes to everyone, it is as general as can be, not just to those arguing here. PLEASE understand the content and remember it for you future references or to remind others about it...

I seriously hope that the under aged joey issue will stop in Malaysia one sweet day...

KP
