can we jailbreak and activate w/o using SSH? was thinking of using iphone browser coz i dun have wifi access. so if we use cable method-iphone browser, do we need to install openSSH?

hmm, maybe we should make a sticky thread on these jailbreak, activate, unlock so that all ppl who need to know can refer. just my thinking. coz on RC forum, they have this sticky thread that allow easy reference.

couple of questions here guys, pls bear with me (dun bomb me pls)

Step 1) unlock with WinPwn - i have read tutorial on iclarified and it does these
- activate phone : what does activate does?
- enable baseband update
- neuter bootloader : what is this bootloader for?
- unlock baseband : meaning we can use with sim card other than AT&T?

Step 2) jailbreak - iclarified showing on ZiPhone. i know u guys saying some problem with wifi issues. do i have have to perform this step? or its all covered in WinPwn? since got problem with Ziphone, then what other can i use?

sorry guys, i m lost, and would like to make sure b4 i proceed to do it. is there any thing that i missed out?

on the iphone > setting > general > reset, what does this do?

actually last nite, i use iphonebrowser to manually delete the songs in my iphone, under itune control > library > F00, F01,.... i deleted these folders, no doubt they are deleted, but then i can't add new songs with itunes anymore. tats y i need to reformat my iphone

i check my iphone installed program to list down what i need to redownload after using iLiberty, and found out that mine was flashed with Ziphone when i bought it, no wonder sometimes the wifi is not usable. hahaha... or maybe i m just blamming. keke....

steve, thanks for ur info, i think i will flash mine tonite. oh, how long does the whole process take?

another spoon feed here - tutorial says have to restore to iphone to 1.1.4. so the very 1st thing i need is to click restore > dun select backup > and locate that 1.1.4 that i have downloaded, let it do. so this process, we have virgin iphone rite? haha..

yo guys, i just reformatted my iphone with iLiberty. everything is fine now, however i face the following problems during the process :

a) i have to do it a few times, like 3-4 times on iLiberty for it to work, so basically, the 1st few times, its like nothing has been written, it just goes back to the main screen like what u have after restoring to 1.1.4. However, u can see many lines of program running on iphone. It only work after iLiberty ask me to update, and i restarted my laptop. BUT recalling back, maybe i have played with the payload, so those ticks that u selected at the 1st page might be gone. And interesting thing here is the 1st time flashing, i manage to receive call and make call, but no other functions, so i guess ticking on those other payloads untick those on the 1st page.

b) i notice that there is an error written on iphone something like bootloader error 3.9_m3s2, but the rest is ok.

c) now i can sync everything except mp3. i used to tick those songs w/n itunes that i want, and click sync, but now, it says not enough storage as it tends to wanting sync all songs (including those not tick). how can i solve this.

d) cydia. haha... just realise that its similar to installer.

oh yah, would like to thanks u guys here for all the assistance. i really scared out the hell of me when those few times can't rewrite my iphone. but really, is there any way of bricking an iphone? like if something goes wrong during the process, e.g. suddenly no power supply, etc.

but how come when i click download payload, it says unable to rename the files, so there is no way i have it on my iphone.

i just found out the error on mine. i then tried manually download, and then cut and paste them to the iLiberty folder to overwrite those that are unabled to be renamed. now it appear in local payload. haha.... hiaks.

upon downloading the payload like installer, the file extension is .zip. may i ask how come itune and iphone accept this format of file? lets say, like there are some application that can be downloaded and put inside the iphone w/o using installer, is the extension .zip or .rar? do we need to unzip them? coz i have a few software, when i unzip some it just have a file name e.g. amaze (w/o extension), so shd i unzip and transfer to iphone or directly copy that zipped file over?

is cracked sw or patches allow in here?

reason for asking is because iliberty payload is in zip format, no need to unzip

guys, when i install a new game or app, how come it only appear after i restart my phone? do i need to install something else so that it will restart the summerboard like last time before i flash with iLiberty? i remember i have a sw call instafresh or something. thanks.
