ah, didn't know we have such a competition here... I wonder if the winner/finalist gets to perform Chopin Piano Concerto with an orchestra, might want to give a shot for such an opportunity

hi everyone here!
I play piano too.. but seems like there's a lot of sifu standard here that has completed their diploma exams~ recently i'm playing Bach's prelude and fugue. I find i quite difficult because i've been playing too many pop songs and romantic songs. |

anyone has contacts of piano technicians? my electronic piano keys are harden as i didn't use it for years. sounds are hard to produce unless you press it hard hard unitl the keys can 'come out' (all keys are like that), something like this:

Is this thread still alive? I'm juggling between learning violin or keyboard... any recommendation of what keyboard I should consider? I don't know if it matters like guitar, but I mainly play heavy metal. Not really on a high budget as I'd like to keep this as a side instrument and considering that I spend a lot on my GAS, hehe...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgERZA-d_m8 -->This is the kinda stuff I'd like to dabble in, and perhaps Dream Theater and Opeth stuff as I progress. |

i am considering to get myself a keyboard/digital piano as xmas present. i understand that keyboard has less keys than piano and low range ones does not support pedals (or so i understand) and im aware that i cant use it for long if i plan to learn myself up the grades. as for digital piano most i see have complete 88 keys with pedal support and the feeback preference i got from my frens are towards keyboard. btw, im looking for electronic and digital type because i want the audio out jack as im working and only able to play at night (weekdays). could you pals enlighten me more? im willing to pay up to 3k too

with that budget u can get a decent yamaha digital piano already..my vote goes to digital piano..keyboard got lots of effects and cool voicing but im not sure if u will be using all of them..
also you can plug in a headphone to a grand piano.. |

you should just visit those shops to give it a try. The Curve's Beatspot or whatever you call it has quite some digital piano in the showroom.
it's quite nice actually, I'll say it's between a keyboard and a piano. one thing about keyboards is that you'll have to buy a stand for it. I don't know of any keyboard that comes with a stand and certainly doesn't feel as solid as digital pianos. another thing to consider is the output, I don't know how the keyboard's output are nowadays. Going back to my memory of my Roland (more than 10 years old unit) vs a recent test of a few Casios, they're just OK in my book. I was on the other hand, impressed by the sound output from the Digital Piano i heard not too long ago. |

btw what background do you have?
for me i find that if I'm used to Piano, the keyboard's plastic keys just feels very light. lacks that tension from a piano. |

beginner. no piano playing experience at all but currently learning violin.
plan to learn by myself because i feel that piano is easier than violin (personal opinion) though i know most would say they 2 different instruments with their own difficulty level |

OK I'm not sure whether my post here will be replied or not, but I still wanna post it up....
Does anyone here did actually played or even owned a Moog vintage analogue synthesizer like Minimoog, Prodigy, Rogue..... Or newer one like Minimoog Voyager or Little Phatty...?? I know mostly people here in Malaysia are not very into synthesizer, especially analog synth, but I really wanna know if anyone here do actually play a Moog synth. I found it very hard to find the synth here... Or even Moogerfooger effects, or Etherwave theremin??? I was thinking of getting a Moogerfooger ring modulator, but it's very hard to get here and was thinking to get it online instead. -YL Added on October 9, 2010, 12:08 pm.......well, yeah I guessed I was right. Nobody here played a Moog. This post has been edited by syncmax-ecom: Oct 9 2010, 12:08 PM |
