You know what is the best workaround for capped speed? UMTS/EDGE is your answer. At least you will be getting 384 kbps rather than the slow 128 kbps.

Yeah that's the cap for Maxis, but there are some hours when it's superb slow.. such as 10pm-1am.... extreme slow downs if you use 3.5G/HSUPA. So an alternative is to use WMCDA/UMTS/3G..

Its like that if you use the default "Maxis Broadband" connection. Search earlier post to get your answer.

I use "Mobile Partner" instead of the above which does not have that problem.

I use a router (levelone WBR-3800) + USB stick modem (Dlink DWM-156)
the laptop connect to router by LAN cable.

It doesn't open MYLAUNCHPAD when open browser which is one of the reason i use 3g router.
another benefit is once i switch on the router it will automatic get connected in less than a minute.
i don't need to launch maxis's dashboard and manually connect.

Haven't tried Maxis's free modem (Huawei E1762) since the 1st day i sing-up.
My levelone 3g router WBR-3600 does not support E1762

CORRECTION: sometime it still will open MYLAUNCHPAD when open browser even though i am using a 3g router, most time it does not open MYLAUNCHPAD.
