ZTE MF600 is getting popular since Maxis enforced the 64kbps cap after 3GB of data usage. No use paying more than RM68 and still cannot get higher speed than 384kbps........
*
64kbps cap as in 8kBps? yikes! got to take care my usage.

same here.. i at kajang near saujana impian.. speed exactly same with u.. starting last monday until now.. i call their customer services, there is no problem in my area.. vmad.gif  vmad.gif
*
u know what. i think there's some tower affected by this 7kBps speed and some other a little bit only.
looking at my modem status, if i restart my modem and it hooked to a different cell ID which means a different tower, speed is better but not as fast as usual. are the engineers tweaking something or what? this time i can usually get around 2Mbps but now only 900kBps.

bro.. izit u use finish ur FUP already?
so u're capped at this speed?
*
no... haven't finished my FUP yet. used only around 2.76 total (from maxisbb website). that's also why they agree to reset my account since i'm not using more than 3GB yet.

last month use until 3.2GB also no prob with speedcap.

that's why i'm asking people around my area their speed. if all having same prob so most probably Maxis network problem but if people near my area all ok then sure mine speedcap already--> so can bamboo Maxis CS! Hehe.

so actually the usage is RESET during when?
billing date or 1st day of the month?

coz my billing date is 23rd~ i need to know so i can control my usage accordingly~

i'm not sure also but the maxis myaccount website show by 1st until end of month and not according to billing date.

Added on October 1, 2009, 11:47 pmjust tested this just now.
before this i use OpenDNS(208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222) since it's a lot faster compared to Maxis default DNS.
But recently i notice that using Maxis default settings feels a bit snappier. so i did a test first using OpenDNS and then another one using the default DNS provided by Maxis. Result as below:

I don't understand what you told. So, if i go oversea online, beside RM58, will i got additional charges?
*
i would think that the RM58 package only applies if you are in Malaysia. Outside Malaysia you better check. Later the bill can fly you to the moon!

KPZ is a blackhole la... hehe. my former college for 3 years. You're in Pintar is it? Maxis service there suck last time. Donno now. KPZ is like a very low lying college so u may need to try the top floor and see how.

And you are basically sharing bandwidth with a lot of users from the other colleges too. Not like in a taman where people go to work during the day, life in college is always surfing 24hours. haha.

Hi, anyone knows what happens to the subscriber with the old packages. Like mine, RM98/month with modem(Huawei B932) 3GB data cap and no speed capping. From the new packages, the most similar package is the RM108/month(normal monthly charges)

Can see it here...
http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband...ss_allplans.asp

Will there be any changes to our monthly-from RM98 to RM108?
If there is i will consider terminating this account.

Anyone in the know???

QUOTE(mytown @ Oct 28 2009, 09:28 AM)
thought this would be interesting to ask if anyone else is facing the same problem.

I have been using the weekly package (RM25) from maxis prepaid broadband since 3 weeks ago. Prior to last friday; i was able to connect using the APN: unet and surfing from my pda phone is excellent.

Last friday when i renewed my subscription for another week; i can’t log in at all as it keep on saying the modem disconnect my connection. After checking with maxis customer care, they told me i must change APN to "bbnet". Ok, i done that but still i was not able to connect to internet using my HTC hermes. I have been calling maxis customer care since then and non of them were able to rectify my problems. One strange thing i noted is that if i put the sim card into my usb HSDPA modem, it works flawlessly when surfing from my netbook.

So i called up Maxis broadband care again today. To my surprise; they told me mobile prepaid broadband can only be use in PC by either connecting through a USB HSDPA modem or by using pda phone (or any 3G phone) as a modem. If i wanted to surf internet from pda phone itself, i must use mobile internet package and settings. Did the customer care skrew this up or this is the fact that i missed.

This is really bad as compare with celcom prepaid broadband where there is no issue on this at all. I can put my celcom broadband sim in my pda phone and connect to internet. Can i just check if anyone else is facing the similar problem?

I am currently asking for refund from maxis.
*
i did face similar problems. i'm a hotlink susbscriber with Nokia 6230i and 3G activated and also using unet as APN. Also a maxis BB subs too.
Maxis BB capped, so use my hotlink SIM and put in my B932 Huawei modem then subscribe to 1 day Prepaid BBand. Create another profile in B932 and set APN to bbnet. After finish using Prepaid Broadband, put my SIM back to my phone.

Then cannot surf using my phone with Opera Mini or using built-in WAP browser. Cannot even connect to GPRS.
Called CS and she ask me to deactivate 3G and activate GPRS only. Only then can surf after using MAxis 2G settings.
yesterday, activate 3G back using *136# and use MAxis 3G settings, i can surf back using Opera Mini.

Really weird. looks like the SIM was locked as a PP BB if activated like that. Next time need to use Mobile broadband and not Prepaid broadband. Also need to use unet as APN in my modem too if i subs to Mobile BBand.

I'm not sure about the site down issue or its the connectivity issue. I could say Maxis BB sucks big time for preventing user to surf internet after they used exceed the max volume usage. doh.gif

Hi Riku,

since the last two weeks my maxis WBB have this probs of loading some websites. it's like a block of IP can and another block of IP cannot. Need to disconnect and reconnect then i can browse those websites back. just now, can't login to YM, then restart the modem i can alrd. but now can't access FB. damnit. what's wrong with you Maxis.

Nowadays ping or tracert doesn't work anymore. die after the first hop. sigh... Digi is really calling me now... had good experience with them when subscribed to Unlimited RM99.
