hmm
grado thread dead since july hmm.gif

My earpads are dying as usual. My replacement is deteriorating and particles are going into my ears (ewwww)
And Jaben seems to go out of stock each time I visit? I should visit again soon.

I found a few links online that sells them cheap but they are from odd places in china
Anyone has any experience with this? In fact are they even the same thing?.
I've been swapping my turns of HD414 pads and stock grado and still finds grado cushions the best. flex.gif

Banggod link
Aliexpress link 1
Aliexpress link 2
Aliexpress link 3

Well considering the pancake s cush for RM12-RM30 and bowls for about RM42 they seem dodgy for the price

Your opinions?

Edit:
I found some even selling for $1.77
Aliexpress link 4

i have a pair of sr60i, i love them to bits. used them for the last 3 years. the cables are a bit faulty at the moment, is it worth it to recable them? or should i get something new?

honestly, i am mr. bang for buck, and the 60i have been sooo amazing for me.

do you guys know roughly how much it would cost to recable them and any suggestions on where we can do that.

Me personally don't think it is worth the recable unless you are willing to pay for silver cables.

I've tried recabling mine with some clean heavy gauge ofc copper (i don't remember what gauge but it's thicker than stock) and I barely hear any changes.
I decided to put the original back as it looks cooler imo
The original is thick enough to begin with. icon_idea.gif

You can try the hole punch mod for your sr60i if you want a physical bass boost. It won't cut down the mids and highs too much.
4 holes is enough as the wooden grados all have these 4 holes laugh.gif

best if you could learn to do it yourself to save cost. thumbup.gif

Update:
Got my cheap Grado earpads

user posted image

They come in normal ziploc bag wrapped in plastic mailer.

They are a tad bit smaller in diameter than the original stock pads. (maybe this is how the revised version now looks like? I don't know)
They are slightly stiffer than my old ones. Similar to common microphone foam.
They are memory foam judging from the indents after 10 minute use.

Overall they are decent replacements for its price. It sounds similar to the stock pads with cleaner trebles if my ears are correct.

Your opinions? I'm happy with what I have for now.

Nice la sudden revival.
My MS-1i still kickin hard. Just lotsa grattle now haha.

How's your age-old MS-1? Because mine started to develop brittleness from age. Might even invest on Turbulentlabs earcups

Best investment I spent a decade ago. Still solid sounding, although it's behind my Bowers & Wilkins's P9 Wireless, but MS1 has better bang for every buck despite the thick cable. My ear form deteriorated, bought a new one in Shopee, and they work like a charm now on the stand.

Haha stumbled upon this thread after I decided to revisit my old SR60e.

Waiting for new earpads + headband replacement. I have touched this pair in years.

Wonder why this thread slowed down so much. Is there another Grado thread that is more active?

On a whim I clicked on the audiophiles forum and I'm surprised this thread is alive after so many years.
