QUOTE(huh? @ Nov 10 2009, 10:01 PM) grado's sound signature is a tad bit bright.. even to my ears.. not sure what will help to reduce the brightness.. other than that.. i love my sr60i with canare f-12 plug, grill mod n put some tack it inside the air chamber to reduce the vibration Maybe you can try pairing it with a warm sounding amp? It might help to reduce the brightness to a more acceptable level

QUOTE(OmniAtlas @ Dec 14 2009, 12:04 PM) looks like the music by design number on page 2 of this thread is dead. Did a google search for the shop with no such luck. Did it move/ shut down?
Does anyone know anywhere else that stocks
SD80, Alessandro MS1 or Audio technica AD700?
Thanks.
The MS1's you can pm either yuheng or walabies as they're selling em....I have a pair of MS1's if you'd like to audition them, drop me a pm

QUOTE(vetkin_gray @ Feb 21 2011, 10:35 AM) hi. i posted on the recommendation topic but no one answers my question so i ask again here.. some say the grado sr60i is more suitable for rock music.. how true is this? what about the soundstage? like when listening to trance music Grado's are good for rock since they have a very bright and forward presentation with alot of energy. It also helps that guitars sound really good on them. Soundstage is not really a strong point of the grado's as the have a very forward and in your face presentation...kinda like being at the front row of a concert. Give them and the Alessandro's a try to see if they suit you.

QUOTE(vetkin_gray @ Feb 21 2011, 11:47 AM) so you won't recommend them for any other music other than rock? That's up to personal taste, but they mostly get recommended with rock. Personally, I have a Alessandro MS1 that I use for all genres and I find them quite enjoyable. Ultimately, it's best if you can audition them with the songs that you listen to and see if they suit you

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Apr 3 2011, 11:08 AM) Hey there Grado fans. Tomorrow I will receive my first ever headphone, which will be the Grado SR60i. Not calling myself a fan yet though as I haven't heard of it. But I hope it's money well spent. I thought you were saving up for a MS1?

QUOTE(tunertoobe @ Apr 3 2011, 11:31 AM) I made some very serious thinking. I guess that if I were to get myself in an unfamiliar territory(open cans, first ever headphone), I guess I should save myself that extra hundred RM and be on the safer side. Hey, If I like them so so so so so much, I may go straight to the higher-end "Allegrados" like the Grado RS1 or Alessandro MSpro sometime in the future. The performance gap would be very exciting. I'd have to think of a home setup though. Haha ok, hope you enjoy them!

QUOTE(kuance @ Jul 15 2011, 12:51 PM) guys, i've just purchased my sr60i and i should be able to give my ear a nice eargasmn as soon as i got back from work... 1st, as what i heard about... sr60i can get equivalent sound like the sr80i, IF you upgrade the ear pad to bowl type... true? 2nd, what is with the 128 or 320 kbps mp3? how can i get those better quality mp3? big difference?? lastly, i am happy to join the grado family ^^ Added on July 15, 2011, 12:54 pmohh..sorry to additional info... i am a previous skullcandy user.. bought it at UK, because of style and fashion... end up knowing the sound of this can is like for wannabe... XD... luckily i get back to track ...as im a hobbyist of guitar player.... Hey congrats on your purchase and welcome to the Grado family To your first question, the pads will slightly change the sound of your sr60. Different ppl prefer diff pads and it's all down to personal preference. As to if it makes your sr60 sound like a sr80? I haven't heard so no comment there To your second. Yes 320kbps will sound better than 128kbps (IMHO). Best way for you to test will be to rip out a song that you have on cd in both formats and listen for yourself the difference

QUOTE(calmshot @ Aug 21 2011, 06:58 PM) And that is why audiophile headphone never meant to use for gaming. If u want to play game, to get all direction sound effect u have to use such 5.1 channel gaming headphone at least. It is like u buy a mercedes but drive it off road. It still a transportation but it was built not for off road. I beg to differ. I'm sure 'audiophile' headphones can provide equal if not better performance in gaming provided they have accurate imaging and sufficient soundstage. Grados are relatively poor choices for gaming due to their narrow soundstage and lack of bass quantity for the big kabooms when blowing stuff up

On a whim I clicked on the audiophiles forum and I'm surprised this thread is alive after so many years.
