Grado's are good for rock since they have a very bright and forward presentation with alot of energy. It also helps that guitars sound really good on them.

Soundstage is not really a strong point of the grado's as the have a very forward and in your face presentation...kinda like being at the front row of a concert. Give them and the Alessandro's a try to see if they suit you.

so you won't recommend them for any other music other than rock?

how's the treble in the sr60is?

That's up to personal taste, but they mostly get recommended with rock. Personally, I have a Alessandro MS1 that I use for all genres and I find them quite enjoyable.
Ultimately, it's best if you can audition them with the songs that you listen to and see if they suit you smile.gif

because almost all grados (except ps1000 and HF2) have similar sound signature, which is the peak in upper midrange..making them sound good in reproducing guitar distortion, which is usually heavily involved in rock music

i cannot agree more, grados are really good for rock biggrin.gif but not the best for other genre..

Guys, any recommendation for a DAC/amp for my Grado RS-1i? I'm currently using Corda 3MOVE and it's great, but I think it's time to try something else. Any recommendations are appreciated. But keep in mind that I don't intend to travel to Singapore or order online (for sake of not paying shipping fee) currently, so it has to be something that's available here. smile.gif My budget is around a thousand. Something that works well with speakers would be great as well.
