If you overclock your CPU with FSB, you got to overclock your RAM too.

not true. well, not wrong either but it really depends on the RAM specs.

if you look at his rig, it's using E6750 with 1333Mhz FSB. on 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio the RAM will be operating at DDR2 667 speed.

so if the RAM is a DDR2 800 RAM. even overclocking the FSB to 1600Mhz on 1:1 FSB:RAM, the RAM will be operating at DDR2 800 speed which is only the default speed of the RAM. smile.gif

in my case, i'm using DDR2 1066 RAM (yes, not kidding) so I really have to OC my processor to like what? 2000Mhz FSB already also still the run is running lower than it's default capable speed.

i'm quite new to overclocking. just had some free time, so decided to try out some mild oc. same like daze, i did only minor changes in the bios, using AI overclock to 20%. so now my proc running at 2.4GHz and ram at DDR2 800. if i wanna push further what should i do? increase the fsb?

Added on July 24, 2008, 10:34 amjust tried again..unlink fsb and ddr frequency. tried increase fsb to 1066MHz. so now running at 2.66GHz. any steps to increse the oc?

Asus Rampage Formula bios updated 0408

Personal experience
1. Memory stability improved.
2. Overclocking FSB increased.

Refer to the url below.

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=712947&da=y

Please take note, I have test this only with Rampage Formula motherboard. For those with P5E flashed "Rampage Formula" or Maximus Formula owner, use it at your own risk.

now i learn it

ram divider.
1:1

eg. E2160 with 9X333 then the ram will be dual 333 as 667
eg. E2160 with 9X400 then the ram will be dual 400 as 800

1:1:20
eg. E2160 with 9X333 the ram will be dual 1.2X333 as 800
eg. E2160 with 9X400 the ram will be dual 1.2X400 as 960

when install a E2160 on board with default setting
eg. E2160 with 9X200.. board will check ram module u install

suppose using DDR2-800
it will automatic change to 1:2 thumbup.gif

corrent me if i am wrong.
