i asked the seller b4 n he told me it is mixed with other wood material but he doesnt know which.
i just wonder where he find all these stuff from. building a custom drumset will be very interesting but u need to hv a lot of knowledge in drums n also where to get the parts. for all the time doing all this i think ill prefer to practice my drumming skills, lol.
like i alwiz tell my frens, skills is a lot more important than the equipment;)

i agree with u, practice makes perfect, but as a human being we will never be perfect,
so in the process of getting to the level of thomas lang or mike portnoy, custom drum is one of my dreams

for hardware parts like hoops, lugs, tendsion rod...i always can buy them.
its the shell im talking about, the building and construction of a drum shell.
where i can find someone that sell maple, poplar, mahagony..etc ply wood.
or maybe i can try build a snare, using a solid wood...but where can i find
an equipment to bent a solid wood.

i saw a dw solid maple snare cost about 4k, maybe if is there a carpenter that can build it,
i would like to try...i think it would cost much much more cheaper.

the knowledge and idea is there...but the material and technology i could not find (i mean here in malaysia)
b4 this i already tried asking from furniture builder...but they didn't reply anything yet

just my personal opinion, suggestion and dreams

u got a point as a dream n passion in drums. for me i gotta b so highly skilled until what ever drums in the market cant satisfy me anymore only i will seek to built my own custom drums.

the drums market in malaysia is bad. as u can see not many drummers n also drums equipment available. what more if ure looking for custom shells;)

no matter wat we shud b proud as a drummer as we re rare in malaysia^^

i totally respect ur opinion...one of my perspective of building a custom drum is just like u said..."when im truly skillful and the market does not offer me what i need"

for another perspective im seeking to build a custom drum, just like u said as well, Malaysian drum market are limited and expensive. so..maybe if i could build it (which i could only dream of) maybe i can duplicate pearl reference, dw collector series or tama drum for a much much much much more cheaper
cost.

yes, i am proud to be a malaysian drummer

There are six ranges - SH (Single Hammer in Brilliant and Regular finish), DH (Double Hammer with a darker sound and more complex hammering), Furia and Myra (which are one step up and wider ranges), the new VB (Vintage Bronze, aimed at a more vintage sound) and BM (Black Metal aimed at more rocky, dark sounds).

r u asking me? trade bag for stands? pm me more info la hmm.gif actually im plannign to get another bigger hardware bag coz the current bag is just fitting for my current hardwares at the mo. if i get new crash meaning an extra stand. i need bags n cases so much thats the reason y i got this set. during transportation my kit is fully cased at the mo! rclxms.gif
at least once a month ill need to transport it to my basist's house for jamming. guitarist is in pg so he comes back every month at least just to jam nod.gif

waaaah, not only has this thread become as active as the drummers paradise, but its also already seems like saru88/iPohBoy's original question is now completely irrelevant...
