i think wimax will lose to 3.5G bcoz hsdpa modem/phone so cheap & no need contract

if 3.5G telcos give 7mbps + build more tower + upgrade their connectivity to Internet, wimax can tah-pao

As I understand WiMAX is far easier to upgrade to support more users compared to 3G as far as the basestations are concerned.

WiMAX is new technology, the prices of hardware is bound to go down, just like 3G. Prices will too. I remember the days when DSL setup was charged RM 999 by TM. Remember the days when ADSL modem was RM 400 over?

3G in Malaysia is bad - see where Celcom, Maxis and U Mobile are. The upload speed sucks too. I just hope this one aspect of 3G broadband WiMAX will not follow.

I think Mobile comms company should stick to what they do best - providing voice calls and mini data services (SMS).

Just tried U Mobile for my company at Westport, and extremely satisfied with the speed there. As with my first time applying for U Mobile at Damansara Damai, they keep saying no coverage in Westport (despite having full bar signal!).

I think online payment may take some days to be realised into your account...RHB Bank for example does everything after 5 days since the transaction! At first I thought it was DiGi but when I checked other accounts (ASTRO, TNB etc.), I realise they all are effective after only 5 days despite me choosing for an immediate payment...

for 3G broadband, it will not roam to Celcom
it's only applicable for call service only, not data service (3G broadband)

True - U! owns its 3G network.

U mobile only offer HSDPA (no Edge or GPRS ) broadband and it is entirely on its own NETWORK

for voice calls, if there is no Umobile network available it will ride on Celcom 2g for voice BUT its voice call prepaid and postpaid is much cheaper than wat celcom charges for the general users ( dun bring UOX customers into this discussion pls) and they calculate call block based on per second whereas celcom based on 20 secs per block
*
Bring in XPAX. A call to non adjacent area off net is RM 2.60 per minute!
