Dunno true or not I heard Ericsson is in the midst of upgrading Celcom's Klang Valley network to 7.2mbps

They can have the best equipment in the world but of what use is it if service is siow and the CSR /billing is 'sial'. haha. personal experience with them.

Yeah, U Mobile at night can be very slow. Still, it is no match to the time when I was with Siowcom - not moving at all! I had to resort to GPRS to get something done. biggrin.gif

For the pass hour has been dc-ing NONSTOP! Dats it, goodbye u mobile welcome Wimax biggrin.gif

Yeah, been experiencing that too. Continuous attempts to reconnect gave error 619 - I had to unplug and replug the modem before I could reconnect successfully.

I tried P1 WiMax at PC Fair today. Looks promising. Current speed (NOT bandwidth) is capped to 2.4Mbps according to the personnel at their booth.

I tried celcom today and compare with umobile, well.. at my area umobile got hsdpa, celcom dun have. So... hmm.. I'm still blur. But umobile download faster than celcom.
*
which was one of the reasons why I swicthed from Siowcom to U Mobile. This Siowcom, my area is between Sierramas Valencia and Bandar Sri Damansara, two supposedly elite neighbourhoods, and the cel co which has been bragging 'widest / fastest' coverage has a meagre UMTS coverage only!

In that regard alone my rclxms.gif goes to U Mobile.

i think ur statement is bias. when Celcom came out 1.5 years back, it was FASTTTTTTTTTTT. now like turtle, too many users. depends on area too. Some place where there are not many user, the speed is wayyyyy much better, stable etc.

try u Mobile elsewhere, or try in Sandakan, can u get mobile broadband? NO
*
Of course it's biased. After having used Celcom which keeps touting the widest coverage and unbeatable speed while paying through your nose for dismal connection quality, you cannot afford not to be biased. Celcom's 3G coverage in the supposedly elite area of Sierramas Valencia and Bandar Sri Damansara is pretty bad - never mind HSDPA (non existent). True U Mobile is not available everywhere, but they are not boasting about having widest coverage (they do have the widest HSDPA coverage though). Most people I know turn to wireless broadband not so much to be mobile but because they are looking for alternative to Streamyx.

To be honest, I do expect U Mobile to go downhill sooner or later. But at least it's not charging people a bomb for it. It's a good RM40 cheaper than Celcom, and the CSRs are much friendlier too.

Just set the default profile with one exception:

In the APN column set to static, and the name of the APN to my3g.

Just create a new profile. I have updated my firmware so the software is already different - but core settings should still be the same.

U Mobile is really patience testing as you approach the evening. At night can be a bit impossible to surf now, though HTTP downloads for some reason are blazing fast.

dear umobile,

i'm writing this to tell u that i'll dump u soon... we're not meant to be together any longer... i've found a new love and her name is Jaring Flite Wired.

over the time of two month that i've known you, u have tested my patience to the limit. you were very good in the morning, however, come evening you started to behave just like my ex-partner Sialcomm Boredband.

so long umobile... may u find love from other people who will soon fall for your trick...

-your ex-user-

I will join you too....though probably as an AMAX user....hopefully...
