hai sorry for interupting,
just wanna ask some questions about umobile
i just called the center to ask about coverage in perak,
i'm studying in utp, bandar seri iskandar near menglembu which has 3g coverage according to website, but when i call and ask the staff,
she said that there is no coverage forĀ  umobile broadband in perak,
i dont know which one is true,
is the staff that stupidly didnt update the info or it is true it still doesnt has coverage in perak?
*
There is coverage in Ipoh but I doubt very much the signal reaches Torontronoh...

yeah but there also coverage in mengelembu,it is quite near to tronoh..
so there is coverage in perak right..
means that u mobile staff didnt update their information bout coverage lorr..
btw, where to purchase the simcard broadband other than kl?
*
Dude, I used to study there in UTP. Menglembu is a full 20km away from Tronoh, 25 from UTP. I think HSDPA towers have coverage much shorter than that. ANyway, you can try and do a network search with your 3G phone...if it sees U Mobile or MY18 with 3G logo next to it, then you're in business...

oh okay..thanks 4 the info..
will try it..
utp internet sucks..

Ahaha tell me about it. Suffered badly too. During my time.

You may want to try Sialcom broadband. According to their coverage map UTP should have 3G and HSDPA...

U has always been good, except for night time. Methinks it wins over Siaocom & Maxis BB hands down.

Offtopic question: Do all 3G providers in Malaysia use 2100MHz? Any one on 900MHz here in Malaysia?

Discovered this in my hometown, Port Dickson (30km from Seremban). Does it mean that my house is with U-Mobile 3G coverage? drool.gif

*
Yup. I think on U's website they did say PD has U Mobile 3G...

hi ,btw , any chance u mobile can b use at seremban ??

Seremban has U Mobile 3G coverage, so theoretically you should be able to use it there. I think there are a couple of U Mobile BB users from Seremban in here.

if i'm not mistaken, 3G coverage for data and voice *may* be different
*
I'm sure it's not. They use the same 3G band for voice and data.

oh , ic . any have the link to see weather my home is cover ?
*
There is no specific map as of yet. They only ways you can tell are to ask if there's anyone else using where you are, or do a network search using a 3G phone. a "My 18" with 3G logo should come up as one of the detected networks if there's coverage.

Should be.

QUOTE(raimy_m9 @ Jul 11 2009, 06:33 PM)
so u mobile surf you is rm68? if im going to register, how much will cost me for first month, or i need to pay upfront?
My time, I didn't have to pay anything.

QUOTE(raimy_m9 @ Jul 11 2009, 06:33 PM)
one thing, if i dont have um 3g coverage, say in tanah merah kelantan, can i use gprs instead?
*
You're out of luck. UMBB does not have GPRS outside its 3G/HSDPA coverage.

so i just go to umobile hq at times square and register , i thought we have to pay rm68 for 1st month when register...

I'm not sure about now. I signed up way back when they started with the Surf without modem package last year. Back then it was RM58 a month, and IIRC I did not pay a single sen when signing up.

I'm pretty sure you are barred. Someone in my previous company went on maternity leave for two months and did not tell anyone about the bills. Line got blocked with exactly the same symptoms - the modem could not find the operator.
