Yeah, at night especially, the speed will drop from HSDPA to UMTS. Still better than Sialcom though where even UMTS is blaaaardy slow.

I am really really dissappointed with this U-Mobile........ their promoter is really the worse ever,
They would lie about everything juz to get their product sold~!!!

At 1st he said there is no download + upload limit... no capping of speed... no banning of p2p (all those sweet words you want to hear)

Then when I ask him about this promotion without their modem (RM58) he said no problem.... can use phone as modem

Then I called the service center today just to know the opposite!!! they say this data plan can only be used with HSPDA modem (WTF??)

1st time call their service center, I complained the sim card registration failed
Re: Im sorry Sir, Your area doesn't seem to be in our coverage , our 3g is divided between celcom and u-mobile, most probably you're in celcom
area (huh???? that guy said this whole area is in their coverage (setapak , wangsa maju)

2nd time call their service center, This time is a guy , I ask whether im in the coverage area or not and want to ask how to use phone as a modem
Re: Yes Sir, your area is inside our coverage, Sim Card registration failed? err... please wait sir let me check awhile (5minutes later)
Ok sir, im sorry but , you can't use phone as your modem (then why I buy it for?)
Me: But other users can use phone as their modem, so why mine can't? even your promoter guarantee it
Re: Im sorry Sir, but using the phone as a modem is only possible when u using the mobile broadband plan.... (huh?? why I didn't hear anything about this????)
Me : Fine , HOW DO I TERMINATE THIS SERVICE? any charges I need to pay??
Re: Erm... No Sir, there are no charges , you just need to go to our service center to terminate it and pay the 5% government tax...
Me : shocking.gif 5% government tax of???
Re : Don't worry Sir, they will calculate for you when u reach at our service center
Me : *duuttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt*

conclusion: Im fed up of their customer service, im going down to Times Square this Saturday and going to give them a WAKE UP CALL

Wolf516,
- which package that u r actually getting? the normal Postpaid/Prepaid sim pack or the SurfwithU?
- if u r on Postpaid/Prepaid, then u can still use it for internet but the Data Rate will be charged
- if u r on SurfwithU, any 3g phone or HSPDA modem can be used. No fuss about it
- for coverage, forget about what the customer service told u about 'our 3g is divided between celcom and u-mobile'... 100% wrong info
- as it's for normal phone call for celcom, not 3g
- setapak is covered by Umobile 3g, that's for sure
- btw, on your part where u slot the simcard to n95 and it gave error, could be the simcard problem. go to Sunway or BTS to find the staffs there. they will able to help.

xpresside,
- activation normally will be slow nowadays especially from customer service
- of course, there are *ways* to check this if u know how... ;P

probably the uMobile CS misunderstanding yr statement.

speculation only(handphone act as modem)
-they lack of setup guide for the each model handphone.
-they want you buy their modem & they only have one setup guide hmm.gif

whatever salesperson promise, do some research.
-take down their name,
-the company name & service number,
anything go wrong, lodge report to uMobile CS. let them have a good warning.

pls correct me if i'm wrong. peace everyone icon_rolleyes.gif

hi wolf, you still having problem with the SIM card registration fail? if you're past that stage already, how're you connecting with you N95? are you using Nokia PC suit? or are you connecting it directly? like for me myself I'm using Motorola V3x as my 2nd modem (and during the time my ZTE modem was down and those CS told me that I was out of coverage area while actually the modem is faulty) and it works just fine.

anyway when using my motorola, I just switch the motorola to data connection mode, connect it to the PC, and setup a new dial up connection. just enter the *99# into the dialing number and no username or password required. now here come the tricky part. for my motorola there's no way to set the APN number anywhere....so what i actually have to do is go to control panel, phone and modem options, find my motorola modem and put the APN in the Extra Initialization commands in the advance modem properties. it goes something like this cgdcont=1, "IP", "my3g" (i don't remember the exact command but it's something like that)...can somebody help me here? heh...

so for those trying to connect using phone, if you guys are not entering the APN number anywhere in the PC suit or something, do give my suggestion a try as previously when I tried connecting using my Motorola Phone Tools, i just can't conenct since I've not entered the APN number in the modem settings as unlike other mobile operators, U Mobile settings are not available directly (when i was using celcom and maxis, it setup automatically).

hopefully this information helps. and for those going to Berjaya Times Square to give them an earful, try this 1st and then go shout at them and give them some lesson on customer service.

If still can't get connected, better send back your SIM Card to be tested by U Staffs

thanks for the help bro, but I think the problem originated from the sim card...... it fails to register

Anyway im going to bring it back to them this weekend...... and if by any chance im going to give it a second chance... it better work or im going to throw a grenade to their office.
