*ahem*... let me enlighten you all about this... (u can get the details from www.u.com.my)
UM is not using Celcom 3G as UM have their own 3G coverage. But now limited to certain areas withing Klang Valley... That's why UM broadband was offered for Klang Valley dwellers as of now As for normal phone calling, if you are calling from somewhere outside the UM 3G coverage, then the Celcom coverage will kicks in... |

so, any of u will switch to UM?
3g is getting less subscriptions as of today if we compare it with prepaid/postpaid... Signal around KL town will be the best - as u will often get > 1K kb/s Too bad i can only get 500-600 kb/s at my home - Puchong... Added on July 5, 2008, 1:22 pm QUOTE(virgel87 @ Jul 2 2008, 11:21 AM) no modem to online??tat mean by using phone?? can use 3g phone as modem...wat phone can to use o??? can it multiuser at home??used the router or wat???but the router have usb port ah??heheh nood here... Added on July 2, 2008, 11:24 amo... if monthly used over 5G will automatic terminated the account man... haiz... if u want to set internet sharing at ur home, then u will hv to get a 3g router something like this... http://www.moresales.com.my/catalog/entry/zjqatcxw.shtml 5g is for 'fair usage'... as M'sia government will not allow any ISP to provide unlimited download cap for normal public usage... QUOTE(Wolf516 @ Jul 14 2008, 08:42 PM) I need to know these things really badly because I don't trust what they said when I asked them 1.Is there a download limit in a month? - any other 3g broadband provider don't have this limit? - for Umobile, it's 5gb 2.P2P connection allowed? - yes but connection was monitored 3.Any hidden charges or penalty when terminating the service? - nope 4.Is the IP , dynamic or static? - for sure dynamic lah... The sales guy keep saying no no no but I really DOUBT it.... as I sell maxis broadband last time and really know all the dirty tricks they used |

Wolf516,
- which package that u r actually getting? the normal Postpaid/Prepaid sim pack or the SurfwithU? - if u r on Postpaid/Prepaid, then u can still use it for internet but the Data Rate will be charged - if u r on SurfwithU, any 3g phone or HSPDA modem can be used. No fuss about it - for coverage, forget about what the customer service told u about 'our 3g is divided between celcom and u-mobile'... 100% wrong info - as it's for normal phone call for celcom, not 3g - setapak is covered by Umobile 3g, that's for sure - btw, on your part where u slot the simcard to n95 and it gave error, could be the simcard problem. go to Sunway or BTS to find the staffs there. they will able to help. xpresside, - activation normally will be slow nowadays especially from customer service - of course, there are *ways* to check this if u know how... ;P This post has been edited by lelynx: Jul 17 2008, 08:33 PM |

QUOTE(Wolf516 @ Jul 18 2008, 03:41 AM) Im using the SurfwithU data package dial number = *99#I used my phone (N95) as the modem, but the sim registration fails when I insert it to my phone (the data package can't be used to sms or call perhaps thats the problem) But if im going to use my phone as a modem... I need the settings which is the access point, username and password access point = my3g username = <blank> password = <blank> and if u r using Nokia PC Suite, u don't need to put it the *99# If still can't get connected, better send back your SIM Card to be tested by U Staffs This post has been edited by lelynx: Jul 18 2008, 05:33 PM |

just ignore those comments which u don't feel it right...
ppl can be saying anything (without understanding the situation)... take proton for example, lots of ppl are complaining about it but how many of us are still using it here? i bet it will be a lot, right? moral of the story, just try the service by urself and u be the judge... if u like it, then go ahead... if u don't, then terminate it... what's the fuss here? Added on November 17, 2008, 11:32 pmfor those whom are staying near puchong area, the coverage is quite decent here... can sometimes get 100-200KB/s... anyhow, the best coverage is *always* will be near the KL town areas... Added on November 17, 2008, 11:38 pm QUOTE(misy80 @ Nov 17 2008, 01:18 PM) wider = extension to Penang, Johor? orwider = better penetration within Klang Valley? Thanks for the tips on re-dialing...
yup... BT is damn slow with UM... And Rapidshare and MegaUpload is a no-no since it's a shared-IP... Other that, normal http download, youtube, badongo is superb... |
