fuh..
looks like u have to tie up your left door to your right door with strings.

u can try taking out the door lockset and see what's the prob.
i have not encountered this before.
but i do have experienced a broken door handle on the driver's door.
i open it up and tie it with a cable-tie.

i bought a NEW local door lockset, it cost me RM150.
then i done my own DIY for the door lockset & realise ori lockset are still working well,
the problem are the plastic (WHITE) that hold the spring broken had make it slip away,
then i tie it with cable tight & wire, so it still working well.
for those who had this problem may try to fix it,
but then it took me 2 hour to take out & install it back.
not easy, but after my 1st try then i know how to fix it alrdy.
BTW i want to sell that NEW lockset parts for RM120 only,
just incase your lockset are really mal-funtion.

haha.. the same problem that happened to my driverside handle.

Hi All sifus and bro. Need some advise here.

Plan to buy 2nd hand perdana year 02/01(budget small) coz need to travel far from my house every week roughly 1500km for 2 flow. How long can this perdana tahan.

I survey 1 car (2owner) year 01/02 with milage 90k with Perak plate number all parts are original but the shop informed me the timing belt just changed. When they say the timing belt just changed do they changed all other part around the timing bell also. Is this consider major serviced/overhaul. Is this a good buy considering all stocks accessories and the final price quoted 30k.

My other question is what do I need to do to decide on the purchased and what else need to checked. And is it logical the milage is still that low.

One more question do perdana have airbag. And can we fixed the airbag to perdana.

Thank you in advanced to all commenter and sifus
*
v6 engine can tahan but the gb is another thing.
u may be lucky if the gb can tahan.
but since u said that the gb already jerks while shifting from gear1 to gear2.
i may be the clutch has worn out.

for me, it's better for u to change the timing belt or do a major service urself after u buy the car.
major service includes (but not limited to) timing belt, waterpump, valve seals, gaskets, spark plugs, engine oil, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, flush radiator, power steering, gb atf change, gb filter set, brake fluid, brake pads, brake discs, throttle body service, etc...
some may be excluded if still ok..

perdana do not have airbag and cannot be fitted with an airbag.
similar eterna models also do not have airbag.

My Father's Perdana v6 has just clocked 100 000km in 11 years today. The car is still in great condition. Many ppl complain about Perdana's gearbox, in my experience, for all the 11 years my family have been driving the car, there's not even a single gearbox problem.

Overall, this car rocks to the max smile.gif
I've also attached a picture so that you guys can see the condition of my perdana smile.gif

a year travel less than 10K km.
this is like a weekend car..

i'm not surprised with ur gb still working nicely.
i have 2 frens who are still using the factory gb with mileage more than 200K km..

QUOTE(mikro @ May 22 2011, 07:47 PM)
so gearbox fluid dirty is the culprit the gearbox go kong?
Did service centre also change gear box atf fluid early at 20k?
*
dirty fuid is one of many problems associated with the gb going kong.
dirty filter, atf old (have lost it's qualities), overheating, clutch habis, internals broken, etc...
even faulty TCU will give symptoms of a gb kong.

should i bought modified car with evo3/tt engine or just buy 2004 or 2005 car.

the purpose is to travel far without any problem since need to travel in the dark road at night.
*
the best would be v6 NA with manual tranny.
or evo or TT also with manual tranny.

evo engine is smaller than v6tt (more room to work with) and usually workmanship fee is lower..

Helo Sifus and the rest of the forumers.. It has been awhile since i last posted in this thread..

I actually sat down and read all the posts by our forumers here since the last time i posted (about 6-8 months back). Very interesting and knowledgeable read indeed. Thanks again to all PV6 owners for sharing your problems and solutions.. (special credits to NeuroOne, Omnipotent, koh_424, & lewatmalam)!

Just wanted to share my one(1) year and six(6) months experience of using my Perdana V6 (standard model, year 2005 - odometer 89,000km when bought), comes with factory fitted ATF cooler).

Now my Odometer reads 118,000km. I use my car for night city driving & as a weekend car. No much driving i guess - only clocked 29,000km since i bought it - 1 year and 6 months ago.

An awesome car indeed. Long distance driving is fun and comfortable. The best speed that I enjoy driving is 100-110km/h, RPM:2.8k. My car's fuel economy: Full tank=RM100 : 450km city driving, and 550 highway driving. Reasonable ratio for a 2.0 liter car i guess.

Below are the list of experiences that I went through so far with my PV6:

1) Changed all 4 brake pads upon buying the car (using stock Mintye brand) - still good till now.

2) Changed both front(oil) and back(gas) absorbers to KYB. Still good till now but the gas absorbers are a bit stiff and I'm planning to change it to oil absorbers the next time around.

3) Did major service at 100,000km (changed GMB water pump, timing belt kit, other belts, NGK Platinum spark plugs, 2 engine mountings, etc etc) : spent about RM1,200.00. Changed my light bulbs as well upon them dying - normal OEM ones (for brake, indicators, and headlights).

4) Normal GB service - ATF and filter change. (Maintaining change every 15,000km for ATF and 30,000km for filter). My ATF is Proton SP3.

5) My car couldn't start at times. Serviced my throttle body, changed my fuel filter still to no avail.  Even after servicing the throttle body and changing the fuel filter, still may car minyak tak naik and had to change the fuel pump. Replaced my fuel pump to chop shop Eterna fuel pump. Need to figure out whats the real problem here.. still facing the same prob once in awhile.. sigh.. Probably electronics kot.

6) Two months after buying the car, I changed from dry cell to wet cell(N70) - the wrong wiring at my radio was draining my battery (leaking current) until my dry cell went kaput. Stupid 2ndhand car dealer worker who wrongly fitted the wires before me buying the car.

7) I maintain 5,000km service interval with Pennzoil Semi-Synthetic 10W-40. Good oil indeed.

8) Car so far runs well with no problem except the engine starting problem - once in awhile. Smoke sometimes can be seen after rain or early morning.. I think this is normal. Nothing major.

9) My GB runs smoothly except for the "thud" sound/feel during gear changes - not often though. I jaga my GB and very rare thrash it (only when ppl cucukx2 behind me unnecessarily, hehe).

10) My fastest speed recorded was 190km/h at Seremban Highway on d way to Melaka (had 3 passengers in the car).  I think my car can reach 200km/h at the most if tekan sumore.. Haven't try it yet though. Car was also cruising fine at 160km/h. Cabin sound intrusion is noticeable after 110km/h (probably I need to change my door rubbers as my car 6 years plus d.. hehe).

I guess, these are the things that I've done and experienced so far with my beloved PV6. Love the car so much! One of the best decisions I've taken in my 25 years of living - i.e.: getting a Perdana V6.

Last but not least.. thanks again to all the Sifus in this forum! hope to see this thread alive and kicking like always!

p/s: Thanks Wan for all the help. Dah lama aku tak turun TT.. one of these days will definitely join u guys!

Hi team,

Just want to clarify about the gear box price.

1) How much does the cost of auto/manual gear box original/recon price if we replace?
2) How much if we ONLY repair the faulty gear box?

I have read many articles/forum and some of them stated rm3000 and some says rm12000. Which one is true cause i am planning to own one 2nd v6 soon, so i am doing a big survey.
*
1. auto recon around rm1.6K with trade-in ur old gb. warranty usually 6 months. manual gb fullset + installation is around rm3.5k-4k.

2. repair is around rm1.2k

i recommend to look for manual gb la.
save fuel, better response and better acceleration.
but u lose autocruise function and relaxing auto drive.. hehe

QUOTE(facepalm @ Jun 21 2011, 11:27 PM)
Hello to all PV6 owners,

Would like to seek help and advise from all sifus and PV6 owners regarding to my PV6 that bought in year 2002. The car has been serving me and my family well in all these years until recently the engine temperature became problematic eversince it overheated for the 1st time when i travelled to genting with my family at 2 years ago.

Within this 2 years, the car has been done major service i.e. new spark plug, water pump, timing belt, plug cable, and etc + top overhual due to oil leakage and service car radiator, which the latest was done on 2 weeks ago by replacing a new top layer of the radiator due to crack and water leakage.

Until now the car still facing overheat problem whenever i try to push it on 110km/h - 140km/h with and without using overdrive. The meter temp will show that it will raise from 40% until 75% to 80% before reaching total overheat. but strangely the temp will back to normal condition again if i slow down the speed till 40kmh or stop and let the engine cool down for 10 minutes. I had went back to my mech to chech the radiator but my mech claimed radiator didn't crack and coolant still remaining the same level.

To all sifus or owners who maybe had faced the same issue like mine, pls enlighten me that which parts of the car may probably caused the temp problematic? many many thanks if anyone could help  notworthy.gif

for bent/bengkok engine head
- skim the head but v6 head can only be skimmed once and not too much. if its too bent, u have to look for new (or 2nd hand) head. may cost rm700 for both v6 heads

for blocked radiator
- open both top head and lower head of radiator. must be done at radiator servicing shop. if both heads needs changing, change them. or even better buy those 2 layer fully aluminium radiator (i'm using one now). and dont forget to flush and bleed the water lines. service ~rm70, new radiator head rm100-150 (depend on brand), 2 layer alu radiator rm300 above.

thermostat
- change new one la only rm30-50

u may do the cheapest option first.
1. thermostat check - while ur car is idling or aftyer drive. so not switch off the car. feel the upper radiator hose, if hot then thermostat ok, if cold then thermostat jammed. the lower hose must be hot.

2. radiator check - this is quite hard to check. have to open up the radiator and spray water through each fin in the radiator. but if only cost about rm70. dont forget to do bleeding after flushing the radiator.

3. waterpump. might also be the culprit but this is expensive to do. waterpump only rm110-150 (GMB brand) but the work have to open the timing belt.

4. for bent head, i do not actually know the price for test and skimming. i've had a bent head before but i just change the head. but the gasket wont cost u rm200 la. a full timing belt set is rm350, how come only the gasket cost rm200? and the labour to change head will not cost more than rm300.

5. as for bent block, i dont think the block bent becoz v6 block is kinda bullet proof. if only an overheat happen, the block will still hold.

as for 4 and 5, if cost u more than rm1.5k, u'd be better off finding and plonking in a 2nd hand v6 engine. get engine kosong complete (head + block + internals) is good enuff. u can use back everything else..

hi, am newbie enough for dont know what is NA?
I just need a 'decent' car with approximately 50k budget.
I prefer manual car but the trafic condition(traffic jam) is bad so it would be better to have an auto car?
The different is about 3-4k right?
*
NA - normally aspirated (non-turbo).
like the normal v6 engine.

first and foremost, i would say that perdana have problems with the auto gb.
it's a problem inherited from mitsu.
a lucky owner will get a problem-free gb.

so, if u are looking for an auto, get the least mileage and the youngest car u can get.
perdana v6 from 2005 have installed a standalone ATF cooler which enables the ATF to cools more which in turn, hopefully can prolong the lifetime of the gb.

if u want it to be problem free, straight away go for manual.
and much better pick up, response and much much more fun..

so, have u decided to get a perdana with NA (normal engine) or turbo?
i think for the time being, perdana V6 NA with manual transmission is good already.

so u gonna spend all the rm50K or that's just a rough budget?
u wanna get the youngest car (which u can get 2008 model) or dont mind getting an older model (2005-2007)?
maybe u can get a 2006 model with manual tranny and use the extra funds to maintain the car.
like getting full service, sound system, sportrims, better suspension system, etc..

I probably will go for perdana with NA, manual.
rm50k is a rough budget, preferable to get a car which is well-maintained, I dont mind getting older model 2005-2007.It would be nice if the 50k included in the full service but again how much roughly the "full service" cost? I dont need the car with excellent sound system/sportrims.... just need to improve the perfomance and less hassle

I browsed some website for used car but hardly seen 2008 year car for sell.. normally 2004-2007, asking price range 40k to 50k

Do you know anyone selling 2008 car ?
*
hehe. sorry, a bit hard to help u find a v6 manual.
i have 2 frens asking me to help them find v6 manual.
all i can say is, search mudah.my, search at used car dealer or find a good perdana v6 and transplant manual tranny.

a lot of perdanas on sale are either v6 auto or transplanted to turbos.
to find manual v6 is a bit rare coz they are still using/loving it.

if u cant get manual v6 and if u dont mind sportrims or sound system, then get an auto v6 and search for manual gb.

as for used car that has gotten "major service", i doubt it.
4 frens bought v6 from used car, all 4 kena kencing by dealer who said that the car has undergone major service.
all have to do it themselves afterwards.

set aside about rm2k for service if u getting a used car: timing belt set, spark plugs, waterpump, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, ATF filter (for auto), flush radiator, bleed the brakes, flush gb, and so on....

for manual gb, set aside about rm3.5-4k for complete set siap pasang..

no problem.
keep us updated in your search ya.

if its up to me, i'd get a 2006-2007 auto model (max rm40k).
service and maintain it first.
with the extra funds, i go get a manual gb (if necessary la, if not maintain auto).

fyi, a my fren is selling a manual gb (code 312 from v6 mivec engine)

My perdana V6 '05 alfa version recently experiencing slow pick-up i.e. feels heavy especially during stop and go traffic jam and at traffic lights. This is more of an on and off situation but has become more often lately.

Wondering if it is because of dirty air filter? or spark plug problem? still a long way from next scheduled servicing so wana do some DIY troubleshooting first. Anyone can explain this situation?

how long ago u did servicing?

what other symptoms u hv experience? timing not stable?
might also be the fuel pump, not pumping enuff fuel..

wanna ask to u guys, i heard that pv6 got prob with GBox right,, so how i can prevent this prob?
i mean any tips? like can i just lenjan the acceleration or use d2?

i really want to use this car as long as i can. my dad used this car for almost 10 years, mine is 2nd generation.
got near 200k d
.
so far no major prob until last year when i got my licence and go lenjan that car T.T *dont blame me, u know jiwa remaja  whistling.gif * and dunno what happen, i think something wrong with the engine, cramshaft pecah *not so sure, my dad didnt tell me* cost near +/- 1.3k.  cry.gif *gone all my after spm working money*

just asking for tips how to drive the car, like how much acceleration i can give etc etc..

and and and any pv6 owner near cyber/puchong/sk/putrajaya, feel free to hit me up..
pleasure to make friends with u guys smile.gif
*
the gb is most rosak item in pv6.
some ppl might get lucky and the gb tahan lama.

cams bengkok maybe if the timing belt putus, the pistons may travel too high/fast and hit the cams/valve.

to prolong the life of the gb: install atf cooler (if u dont have it already) and dont play pikap too often.
the gb is more to long distance and top speed, not pikap2.

btw, i'm in putrajaya. come lets tt..
