CNY is super peak season in Penang. Most hotel and places of accommodations are fully booked a month before CNY.

More over it is not a nice period to visit Penang.
Most roads are jam. Carparks are jams. Restaurant are jams. Places of interest are jams.

Many of my friends are planning to stay in door & enjoy rather than get frustrated going out.

If you still wanna come, then plan it after 29th Jan. By then the gila-ness and chaos would be less.

Seafood with nice price around penang / Seaside area - Hai Boey@Teluk Kumbar, Red Bali(Da Shu Jiao) in Farlim. Do google and make reservation.

Dining in Hard Rock is an unforgettable event. RM150 for 3 girls no bad.

Another choice is the unique Yea Japanese BBQ & Shabu Shabu at Penang Times Square for RM48++ per pax (Adult)

I boycott PCDepot - google the LYN for the numerous complaints.

Bad link and outdated liao.
Bee Hooi popiah seldom sell liao.
Rojak at Gurney Hawker center is for Tourist not for local.

and New Cathay Coffee Shop hockkien ok nia. That place fame for Koay Ciap, Penang Curry mee, Roti Babi and Indian Apong.

Hi all,

I am planning to drive to Penang next week from KL with 8 of my college mate. Staying there for 2 days and 1 night. It is quite a short period. Planning to leave KL about 6am and reaching there about 12pm or 1pm. Check in at 2pm. What can we do after that? Could anyone tell me or suggest what can we do beside visit temples and gardens? unsure.gif

Honestly, I had been Penang twice with family November last year. Every time we went to the same location. Kek Lok Si, Penang Hill, those gardens or buttery farm. But this time, I'm going with friends. Most of them were not interested in those as, well, I mean is actually quite common cause we visit the same attraction every trip. No offense here. smile.gif

Is there something else we can do? Any recommendation? Like maybe beach? Appreciate your help. biggrin.gif

If leave Damansara toll plaza at 6am, traveling at a constant 110kmh without any stops can reach Pg Bridge at 9:30am.

Beside etigge's suggestion, have you done the heritage trail?

Actually there are many reasonable price (RM80-100/nite) 'Tune' style hotel/Inns in Penang.
Over the last 2 years there was a dramatic proliferation of these hotels.
Problem is lack of convenient and efficient public transport!
