Avoid this contractor if you can. His ID in LowYat "Wai Teong" and FB is "TWT Plaster CeilingTWT Plaster Ceiling" and he posted in this thread before.

I called him to arrange for an appointment for plaster ceiling works at my home. The first time I called he said he's too busy and need to go back to the home town and will call me back. After 1 week, I called him again and he's said the same "BS" and will call back. This time I decided not to even want to engage him.

I am sure many forumers who contacted him faced the same problem. I have met a lot of contractors and he's on of the bad ones who are in my list. Be ware of contracts of such, imagine if you have engaged him/paid deposit and he kept refusing your work, who are you going to turn to.

to be fair, i guessed if you havent paid them, you can always switch to another one. to me, if i called twice, still same excuses, probably they are too busy, i will get another. BUT, if you paid them, then different story....just my opinion.....

One of my contractor is currently quoting me a rate of RM7000 to supply and install plaster ceiling and man hole for whole house (about 4 man holes).

Izzit reasonable? Whole house is including porch, living, kitchen, toilets, all rooms and my house is dbs 18x70.

For downlight, hes quoting RM70 each to supply and install downlight and point in conceal piping. Normal downlight not LED.

Izzit normal? For plaster ceiling, hes using 4ft board with metal at each 2ft.

I think it is too expensive.
My whole house only RM3-4K for 22x70 houses. but i didnt do for living room only, but my one is all plain.
Even plaster ceiling with extra pattern, i dun think will reach 7K so high.

my contractor quoted me 1 downlight install is RM11-12 only. ur RM70 include re-wiring?

It is common for contractor to be busy and focused on those that already paid deposit, so to not call back someone that only making enquiry is not unusual.

If this guy was a bad (quality) contractor i doubt he would be so busy.

I also doubt he had an MBA in time management and customer relations, so cut him some slack if he doesn't call you back for enquiry.

Btw making such comments about someones business when you don't really have any solid grounds for complaint will leave you exposed to be sued for deformation. So you should be more careful what you say next time.

My comments are being genuine that is how he actually responded to me; and am sharing my experience with forumers. If his business is good and do not want to pick up any customers, then tell so. I wouldn't be afraid if he's gonna engage an attorney for such comments and by you saying that, you're infringing my freedom of speech. Mind your words.

On a fair note to this contractor, I have not engaged him at all, not to talk about his works. It's more like he needs a better time management for his business.

Install means not re-wiring.
Only handle the wiring connector with the downlight.
if the downlight dun have wires the will also join the wiring.

But the price comes with my 100K renovation. some contractor give free but not my one sad.gif

Yea include rewiring and down light but not LED type. My ceiling is plain too but living room needs to have a bit of design to accommodate the ceiling fan due to low ceiling. I wonder issit the charges is due to the inclusion of wiring works.

want to ask, a contractor charging me these for lighting:
- RM50 light looping
- RM5 open hole
- RM60 install light <-- is this reasonable? I thought the above 2 activities should include installing the lights already?

not sure your location ..
so just for reference only ..
light looping depend on what type of light,
but if many, can try nego for rm45/nos ...

light install is quite expensive abit ..
perhap you can try other contractor quotation ..
is also depend on the light design,
some is difficult to install ...
but the price still can go down ... tongue.gif
