i saw 1 pet shop at desa pandan...
sale SG in hamster cage, n just give sunflower seed (KUACI) for their food..
n 1 small conteiner for hiding...

That's one of the normal mistakes... quite a number of petshops do not know that sugar gliders are marsupials. To them, they look like squirrels. This is the same with Sunway Interactive Zoo, Reanne and I worked there before and there was a pair of sugar gliders, eating nothing else but sunflower seeds, bread and the odd piece of orange and corn. After we worked there, the gliders had a better diet as we gave them better food.

I've seen worse...I visited a breeder, small scale breeder in JB.
They were given cat food and small cage 1/2 feet x 1/2 feet x 1/2 feet.
Selling their gliders for 300,they joey is barely 5 weeks old.
They have been keeping them for 2 years...n the joeys are their 1st.
Given the condition,it's a miracle they produce joeys.
Sigh....sore sights.
Told them the condition isn't correct...give them some advise...but all they do is..
ask me to breed gliders n tame gliders for them.
Most of the mass breeders are doing it here as well. I heard got breeders around Malacca, KL, Penang.... with over 300 to 500 gliders, all caged up in small bird cages with only apples and dogfood.

BTW, during this photo session, he tried to jumps onto my spectacles and accidentally scratched my face very near to my eyes. Hurts like hell... Huhu~
You gotta be careful everytime. Anyway, Teddy is showing better fur.

Just a little something to share.
If anybody bought an underaged joey, please dont be panic.
Nurse them yourself! (Please dont plan to get the underaged ones.. huh!)
Suggested milks:
1)
Pets Own Milk (buy from Pet Shack)
2)
Enfalac Lactose Free (powder form - buy from pharmacy)
I haven't use the powder form before. But heard some people using it.
Correct me if any stated above are wrong. Just helping out to spread the info. Please add any suitable info to this if found uncomplete. I feed all my underaged joeys with Pets Own Milk along with Slurp and fresh fruits.
p/s - don't forget to vote on 8th March!
From experience, Enfalac is not very good. Pets Own is better. Anyway, I will soon get hold of Wombaroo sugar glider joey milk from a fellow member here that have helped me to get it from Australia, so it would be a good backup for people with underage joeys.
Pets Own milk with GliderSLURP!(tm) works well together coz while Pets Own milk is nourishing on it's own, the protein and carbohydrate level is low, so GliderSLURP!(tm) helps to build up an underage joey. All this is through experience.
One thing also is we must always make sure underage joeys are kept in warm surroundings. When I care for underage joeys, I house them in a homemade incubator. This keeps them warm and it also increases their appetite and activeness.
