Hi guys,

I m looking for a gaming laptop to play 3 games which is Red Alert 3, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 smoothly. Below are my requirements and budget.

Budget : Max RM 5k ++
GPU : Nvidia 9600GT DDR3
Monitor : 15.4 inch or above
RAM : At least 3 GB
Processor : Minimum Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor (2.0GHz)
Brand : Any brand except ACER

Please help me evaluate based on price / performance ratio based on my budget. I dun care abt the looks and etc. So far I m keeping an eye on Dell Studio XPS 16 , HP HDX 16t and MSI GX620. Is the gc for Dell Studio XPS 16 comparable with 9600 GT? And please let me know whether I will waste my money by getting a laptop with 9600 GT just to play these 3 games...

Thx..Any feedback will be appreciated......... thumbup.gif

Generally how many hours a decent laptop can last with word processing and wer surfing activity ? What about the latest that claims save power ? Really no eye deer. tongue.gif Getting my 1st laptop.

the first, the single most important thing, BUDGET. do state your budget.
then state your requirement. portability? gaming? size? weight? yada yada?

as for latest processor power consumption, lemme see.
there's the Intel Atom. the N2XX series has a max TDP of 2.5W. the N5XX series has 2W
the P series centrino2 has 35W TDP IIRC. the centrino2 SP series has a max TDP of 25W.

then there's the ULV, UL, SL, them low voltage series which i don't really recomend since the Atom is 1.6Ghz biggrin.gif
battery time are mostly affected by screen size, backlighting, gc, and proc. varies from 1hour to 6-7 hours between models.
with just word and web surfing? again, between 1hour - 6/7 hours

Then what abt HP HDX16t? How is it compare to Dell Studio XPS 16 and MSI GX620 in terms of performance? This MSI brand is kinda new to me. Can anyone enlighten me abt whether this product is reliable? Very seldom hear ppl own MSI laptops..

Thx... notworthy.gif

Hi, I'm planning to get a NEC6300 but I don't really know much about the brand.

Is NEC a good brand? I know they've been in this line for very long but in terms of laptops its pretty unheard of.

Does anyone know about the quality of NEC laptops?

1. Brand - any that doesn't give me too much problems.

2. Budget - RM 2500

3. Specs - Eh.... I don't know. Can do regular stuff like download stuff, go online, watch videos, use Word and power point, maybe play some mmorpg games. Something along those lines?

4. Size - not too heavy? I might need to bring it to college.

Eh, just in case, can pm me personally so I know my q is answered? Sorry guys absolutely clueless person here.

Honestly the GC is not good enough, or should i say it sucks in gaming? for new games they only can run on low setting, or worst, not playable at all. Its not a gaming laptop but more to a multimedia type. With that budget i would suggest you to get benq s42.

Go for Dell Studio, it a newer model compared to XPS and it is cheaper than XPS too. Peformance wise, Studio will suit your needs with its P8600 processor and 3gb ram, Hd4570 is a GC that can cater your gaming needs.
