QUOTE(chris_c28 @ Feb 20 2008, 08:06 PM) You really have to be here early to get a place. There is a severe shortage right now, so it is very difficult to get a place, even more so when you are a student, without income and no previous rental history. You'll be competing against others who have better records. I'd say let the market cool and search again in April/May. Rents will go up slightly as the interest rates are rising again (yes AGAIN), but when there is less competition, it is generally easier to get a place. My fourth year in sydney dude, lol.Why do rents increase with interest rates? That's because many investment properties being leased are purchased through a mortgage and as mortgage costs rise, so do the need to pass on these increases to the tenants. However, rents can only increase as much as the market value. Once the increase go above market value, landlords will find it difficult to rent it out and they wouldn't risk listing for too long as it incurs a significant cost to them. A few years ago, the rental market is so bad that landlords are offering discounts, and free gifts to get tenants to sign a lease. Now, it's the opposite. It's just a poor deal right now. Just that my current place the rent shot up the roof adi. Cant afford. So now me and fren looking for new place to stay. Got slapped in the face so many times this week adi. haha. QUOTE(haya @ Feb 20 2008, 08:57 PM) KVReninem, its called "enforcement of standards", a concept very alien to Malaysians. In this postof mine, I made it very clear since we had the chance for a fresh start, let's at least lay down some ground rules for this thread (and I'm okay if you don't want to type properly, just don't ask stupid questions which can be anwsered in a FAQ in the 1st page), and some enforcement. okay haya; do you want to be one?Don't forget the JPA students coming into UQ. cheapest method i think is take local flight to gold coast then take air asia X to KL. melbourne -> goldcoast -> KL about $400-$450, one way.
maybe cheaper if got one of those air asia cheap deals. maybe even cheaper if u buy return ticket.... not sure bout baggage limitations though |

If you are taking AirAsiaX, try using Tiger to fly to OOL direct. Wow that's a lot more expensive(about rm500 more) than what I paid in December for my MAS return. But you as a returning student, should know better that it's always good to get your tickets as early as possible. kl-syd for MAS is around rm4400 return..>.< maybe i should fly to brisbane first..then take the airasia X.. Added on February 21, 2008, 1:06 am this is a good idea!..is airasia going to add kl-syd to one of its routes? For now, I think your best bet would be Jetstar again for one way, it may not be cheap now, but anyhow it's should still be cheaper than most of the full fare airlines given the short period of time you have right now. Or you can try asking the prices for Thai Airways, AFAIK they seem to have the cheapest air fares for KUL-SYD route among the full fares airlines, but you will need to take the KUL-BKK-SYD route, which would definitely take a lot longer. |

QUOTE(wartevar @ Feb 17 2008, 09:41 AM) ok la, yesterday and today fine weather, light shower and cloudy, at least it will be 22 -27 till Monday. But Adelaide seriously dry and hot when it's sunny and windy like crap when it's cloudy. Wanna go take a walk aso must think twice. I'm staying in Highgate, 30 mins by bus to North Terraces.QUOTE(ATI.Bob @ Feb 19 2008, 06:58 PM) The weather is nice now. Hope i continues into O-week.mooze, you bring so many food man....... Anyway all the best during quarantine. My advice would be make sure all your food stuffs are easy to open from your luggage when they inspect your foods. And with the amount of stuff you bring in i'm pretty sure they will inspect the ingredient of your stuff. My mom did brought 30+ packs of 3 in 1 Nescafe to Adelaide which we declare and was subsequently seized cause the lady told us that the 'milk' inside the pack was not permitted in Aussie but if the packs was from Singapore then they will allow it. Nvr the less my mom was kinda pissed. And beware of your laptop make sure no kiddie ahem. This month along in Adelaide airport 3 air crews were arrested for illegal possession of that 'things' and they were fined heavily by the court here. Anyway just for ppl who wants references. I went to Telstra and asked abt internet connection: Open Line Connection= $59 (1 time payment, if you have the telephone line socket in your place, if you don't then it's $299 and they will install the socket for you) Rental per month for the line= $ 19.95 And no contracts required and you don't have to have telephone or internet service with them. Anyway regarding airfare, is it not that almost 20% of your airfare are airport tax from KLIA? |
