Hi guys,

I'm planning to further studies (in MBA). Currently, I'm holding a Electronics degree with 3 years exp. If I goto Australia :

1) Can I bring my wife there too (no dependents)?

2) Can she work full-time (as an accountant)?

3) After graduation (maybe 2-years time), can I stay and work in Australia? How hard is it?

4) In the UK, an international student will get 1-year working permit upon completion of masters. Is there something similar in Australia?
Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!
*
If you are coming in to study MBA, your wife can come as tourist visa.
Your case about your wife working as accountant, i suggest you go thru skilled migration visa bcos accounting still in demand.
Try to consult a legal agent in malaysia if you wish to proceed further on bringing in your wife and getting pr, this is studying in aus sir and i have limited of info on this icon_rolleyes.gif

that is incorrect info..........

all info required are here, just do your own research.....http://www.immi.gov.au/

it is NOT necessary to go through agents....
*
well i pull my word back then. www.immi.gov.au do offer but sometime it is better to consult agent but not asking for services...just consult, a see whats their view..

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice. It seems I have 2-options. To go there with "student VISA" or under "skilled migrant VISA".
I've gone thru the website and need some advice.

1) If I apply student VISA (much cheaper compared to migrant worker) and bring my wife, can she work there (Caufield) as an accountant? If so, how many hours per week?

Quote "Family members of students enrolled in Masters by coursework can work unlimited hours once the student starts their main course."

Another quote "Your family members must:

...
-work no more than 20 hours per week
...
"

http://www.immi.gov.au/students/students/573-1/index.htm
http://www.immi.gov.au/students/students/5...-visa-works.htm
http://www.immi.gov.au/students/students/5...ions-family.htm

2) How to get accountant skills accessed in Malaysia ?
http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/a/...ant-2211-11.htm
Once I graduate (2 years time), then maybe i'll apply for "skilled working" VISA, cause I will have more points by then smile.gif
*
1) well you found the answer, but i would like to point out tat if you planning to bring your wife in and since she is in accounting, try see if the big 4(PWC,E&Y...) have any vacancy in melb or upon arrival then search. there is many ways to come in anyway.

2) skill assesment might take time unless.

anyway
try looking jobs for ur wife at here

www.seek.com.au
www.mycareer.com.au
www.hippo.com.au

hope tis help smile.gif

I stocked up on Wednesday. Most shops are only open till about 2pm today, and mostly closed tomorrow. I suppose if you're desperate, you could go to 7-11.

Eating out this weekend will be a nightmare. A 10-20% surcharge almost everywhere!

Haha... Easter holidays = DEAD TOWN.

Last easter my friend and I stupidly went to Knox City and got stranded there because the entire complex was closed. Can't even enter the building.

This time round I rather stay at home and sleep... whistling.gif

M'sia's public holidays are so much better... at least you see lively people everywhere compared to a dead town over here where everyone mysteriously vanishes.

Hi KV,

Thx for the info. I think she'll search for a job there once we get there in AUS. She worked for PWC KL sometime ago...

I will be going there to study full time with student VISA (and not mainly working as some of you might have misunderstood). My wife (which has CPA) will be accompanying me there, and will be trying to search for a job while my course duration. Since I'm doing postgrad, then she can work there 'unlimited hours' (will confirm with AUS again).

According to the points calculation, my wife barely passes (not in the sinking pool). If I study there for 2 years (with her working there), then we can definitely get more points.

Yes, I'm considering UK too (UK study fair this weekend in KLCC), but it is rather pricey. An MBA course in UK would cost ~120k, while in AUS its ~70k. Not sure whether the cost of living might actually offset the lower fees in AUS... Any "study in australia" fair in KL?
The day he rose again...Happy Easter!
*
wow PWC...try ask HR in PWC if she can go sort of like crossposting to melb for work or smth ...coz this big Four is here..and melb has one, just right at southbank.
besides, i`m not sure if there is large pool of people coming in for accounting anymore coz current issue due to the global financial crisis...so well try your luck smile.gif

Nah... Melbourne's boring.
The only thing that might spark a little interest is the Game On exhibition at Fed Square where they display various kinds of video games from the late 70s and 80s. Need to pay 10 bucks though... don't really feel like going anyway, might just go if there's really nothing to do.
