The cheapest rent for a single room (hostels/ rooming houses) with shared facilities in/ near the CBD would be around AUD170. Usually rooming houses will cost around that, not more than AUD200, unless you live in apartment or studio. It is quite difficult to find cheap rooms in the CBD, maybe you can try to find in Carlton, North Carlton which is within walking distance to RMIT (less than 20 minutes without taking trams). It is important not to take a tram unless you wanna go out of city, as the fare is very expensive (Weekly AUD28, Daily AUD6.50, 2-hour AUD 3.50, see... not worth it... it's for those travelling from outer suburbs to city)

AUD170 divided by 20, if your wages per hour exceed AUD8.50, it would not be a problem.

Try to find accommodation and confirm by may/early june, as july will be a peak season.
*
yes...even now i can see the peak and rising rent ..
another location heard so is good is brunswick ...

transportation in melb is like having long stretch of sardins sharp from 8am to 10am and 5pm to 7pm from city to suburbs and back.(Glen waverley, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston)
so better stay in CBD area..or nearby smile.gif

Why is it that Malaysians are seemingly uncapable of not reading?

Why do we have such talk of bringing money to Australia?

And if you want to know how to bring money to Australia, Limeuu has outlined the options quite well here, here and here. My experience is here. KVReninem, maybe a good addition to the front page? And I don't mean directly copy-pasting either.
*
haya, for this TT/telegraphic transfer issue, I`m still research on the mechanism used by banks/parents to transfer money over. As I pointed out in the main page, 2 major INTL bank which their HQ /Main office in KL and wide spread varies on each states in Malaysia.
Thats why i`m not going into very details due to it is banking work and own personal finance way to look for cheaper rates of TT. icon_rolleyes.gif

why do we have such talk about bring money out? coz having the high yield currency is worth and i wont mind after all laugh.gif
ask indonesia people, you will know more biggrin.gif

arrow on swaston is a pigeon hole, no windows.
unilodge..atleast aud 170 a week for sharing or studio..smth like tat.
add on ..college square.. very expensive.
unimelb, plenty, point to limeuu and zltan thumbup.gif

rent in victoria/melb is rising high ...so better come earlier.
