uhh... most popular choices would be german, italian, french violins. My first was a piece from the republic of czech.

Hey! I am curious, where did you brought your Czech violin?

hi kerazul, ok i'm buying this for an experiment... so i'm looking at rm100 or less.... i know they are costly cos the cheapest i found was RM300. btw i'm trying it on a guitar ala jimmy page tongue.gif
*
RM100 is totally impossible. RM300 are the cheapest one I saw. Those RM200 ones are unacceptable, worst than Kapok guitars.

Buy just the violin bow then. Just RM45 from Woh Fatt.

QUOTE(kerazul @ Oct 2 2008, 04:24 PM)
I feel it doesn't really suit me as I find it difficult to bring the sound out. My teacher and duet partner were able to produce beautiful tones with it. Perhaps I need to improve on my technique. Haha...

My chinese piece is brighter and more responsive so that's why i've been playing it more lately.
*
Hmmmm...willing to sell it to me if I want it? hmm.gif

you want average or student set?
*
It is not safe to bring a lot of cash, I have no credit card.

An average. Oh ya, thank you. tongue.gif

if im not mistaken, most stores accept debit card?that means using your atm card to charge...
average would cost you somewhere near 500++
still think that you should prepare 1k...coz an average set you would be utilizing it for a period of time right?so get a better one...and better ones cost you laugh.gif
*
Well, maybe they will accept debit card. We will see how. Yes, it will be for a long term use. Anyway, set as you mean the violin, outfit and bow or just the outfit?

If it is just outfit for RM1k, that is madness. shocking.gif

Lose its curve? My teacher told me it will damage the hair... hmm.gif

I accidently dropped my violin while walking down the stairs, and it fell all the way down to the ground level. I got dents all over, and the chin rest had a huge crack  shocking.gif  Thank God it didnt broke into 2 pieces. I was emo the whole day. Kinda makes me feel like I'm abusing my new born child...
Btw I tend to have shaking tunes when bowing. Any advises? Im still a newbie. =)
*
Lose it's curve and it will damage the hair at the same time.

Well I think you can change chin rest only. You should bring it to some violin luthier to have a look on your violin since it was dropped. The materials inside your violin (such as sound post) might be lose it's position or something.

Shakings are normal to every violinist. If your bow is not good or damage, it will affect your playing such as shaking. I advise you to control your bow smoothly. Ask your teacher to help you with that, if not you should buy a new bow (only with teacher's advise).

nah...if just the outfit...500++ would be enough...
*
Yes, just the outfit. RM500, still a lot unless it is really a very good outfit and worth the money.

I expect to put 4 bows, more space for accessories and a very big sheet music pocket!

4 bows??!! shocking.gif
why do you need 4 bows?its your whole collection? laugh.gif so far ive seen cases with two...i havent seen 1 with 4 yet hmm.gif
500 is all you need, get something rectangular to put in more notes,i remember my triangular one...gotta stuff the notes in and the books keep jutting out at the side... doh.gif
*
LoL! I know it is crazy and yes, some collection. brows.gif Country fiddle players need a different bow. I am hoping to put 4 bows on it but when I got I will not use up all 4. I saw some outfit can really put up to 4 bows.

Ya! I do not want to get those sheet music pocket that jutting the sides of the paper. It is annoying when I take out my music to play. doh.gif Feels it like a dead paper.

collections eh... drool.gif
i think the best is you can find someone to customize it...but i dont know who can do it... sweat.gif coz the basic ones they usually sell are the normal ones...

I wonder do the outfits have brands just like KUN for shoulder rest.

QUOTE(yunnie @ Oct 13 2008, 05:35 PM)
Probably.. Because I can hear there's something inside when toppling the violin...
Pieces of wood maybe?
practicing more
Yup practise makes prefect.

B]or your fingers are shaking when you play[/B]?
Hmm I don't think so. But it used to be shaking.. The first time I was holding the bow, my fingers were shaking. Hehe.
I tend to apply alot of pressure when bowing. But after playing longer, it relaxed a lil bit. Kinda feel like Im playing it stiffly. I see other violinist playing it so smoothly..

4 bows??!!
why do you need 4 bows?

Lol. Its like a pro hit man choosing the right weapon from his outfit.  tongue.gif
*
Yes, sound post is actually a piece of wood. Can be anything else, no one can give you the exact answer here unless you bring it to a violin luthier.

I think you need to relax when playing violin. For your left fingers, you do not need to press the notes hard. Every notes violinist press does not have to be hard and we all play it smoothly. The violin will not hurt you, you are controlling the violin so all you have to do is relax.

Well well, as said country music for violin needs a different bow. Some for rock music and etc.. a lot.

I tried going easy on it just now, and guess what? It was a lot better than before.
Although still a little shakey here and there. I realised my grip wasnt stable enough. Maybe thats why its shakey. XD
LOL I second that.  thumbup.gif

Btw thanks for Paramore and icyfawkes both of your advises.
It really helps XD
*
Keep on practicing, your playing will be just fine. smile.gif

You are welcome.

I hope there is more people picking up viola. It is sometimes a shame for an orchestra to have very few violist.

Cheap violins like Skylark with cheap bow and bad rosin = screeching like a whistle. laugh.gif

Especially on the first string, very annoying. doh.gif

lolz...usually instead of getting a beginners violin like skylark,i would rather keep enough cash to get a handmade higher average violin...but its good to exp lower end violins first so you can differentiate the sounds laugh.gif
*
I would recommend Valencia violins that Woh Fatt sells. It is better than Skylark two times. Price is about RM50 more.

Questioning Fact: Genuine handmade violin at least RM5, 000?
