QUOTE(Thefiftytwo @ Aug 22 2014, 01:14 AM) Hi guys, First time posting here. Hope to get some suggestions. Me and my family are thinking to move to Sri Petaling and we are looking at 2.5 storey terrace. Been having hard time to find available unit at reasonable price. So I'm thinking we could actually buy a cheaper double storey terrace and turn it into a 2.5 storey. Yeah problem solved! But wait... my hunch tells me that it would not be so simple.... I would like to know how much would it cost to build an additional 0.5 floor on a 22 x 75 double storey terrace. Or I should ask if it is possible to do so in the first place. Thanks! Where got so simple. You need get town council approval and permit, some part of the house need to add support for extra weight maybe hack and rebuild. Redo roof. I my rough guess you need minimal 200k to have a move in condition.

I think the major concern is the foundation and structure reliability with the extra 0.5 storey weight, it may cause the beam to crack, and endangering the neighbors' house as well. Some people extend the back yard to max in double storey with proper piling, this option may be safer. This post has been edited by Alan: Aug 23 2014, 10:49 AM

Get an architect's opinion first, see what he says. FOC if asking only ma. Bring ur S&P where he can see ur layout. Make sure ur architect knows the local council way of doing thing well. Best is to go to the local council (jabatan bagunan) and ask them to recommend an architect. If he say can then the cost would not be too much. I feel RM60-90k can kau tim which include wiring, plaster ceiling, paint , tiling etc. This post has been edited by Hitammetalic: Sep 1 2014, 10:24 PM

QUOTE(munsies @ Sep 2 2014, 02:08 PM) Many thanks for your reply! Do you know if I need to hire a plumber to do the hacking or is it done by a contractor? are u adding new tap or water supply? If not the the existing drain pipe can close with a cap and tile over it in case u miss ur bathtub then can reinstall again. No need plumber. but if u want to make new piping here and there then better call plumber. Just PM me if u need any info. can recommend some boys for u cheap cheap. only if ur in kl/klang valey or seremban. Other states too bad. dont want to put any freelance workers number here if not people think im advertising. sure cheap and best.

I was thinking of adding another water supply to make double shower. I wanted to retile the whole toilet since the bathtub area will be completely different tiles already. Do you think a plumber will be necessary? BTW, I have one wall to hack that is 2320 x 116 x 3600 size. Do you know how much it would cost and how I can identify if there is a pillar there? Please share with me your recommendation! This post has been edited by munsies: Sep 3 2014, 12:32 PM

QUOTE(20four @ Sep 3 2014, 08:46 PM) my house just newly completed renovation and gonna move in next 2 weeks soon after cleaning. My renovation progress was such a smooth sailing overall with the help of my ID from The Interior Enterprise. Before we engage anyone, my husband have been went few shop to survey. We went to LI Interior, Signature Kitchen Cheras, Chan Kitchen, D Format at Puchong and Golden Carpentry at Puchong. After comparing their pricing, services, respond to our request , at the end we selected The Interior Enterprise. The boss personally serve us and we feel comfortable with the ideas and design skill. Most importantly, they are not calculative on minor add on order. I personally quite a fickle minded, & luckily they able to help me make the right decision as my budget for whole house is limited also. Can't simply waste on unnessarry things. Anyone interested, can give them call. The boss are friendly and easy going. Can contact him Kelvin 012 2052545. http://theinteriorsolutions.compost some pics la since you are so satisfied
