Another indepth review from Singapore

http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/Test%...1020-95039.html

From the looks of it, it's high pricing does not match with the quality given.
*
in msia, vios has already marked its 100,000th sales few months ago, and is still increasing. expensive city gonna take a while to beat this record.

n the toyota altis (assuming its the 1.6) is cheaper than the city in sgpore. That aint look good sweat.gif
*
but our city is CKD, and its not imported from thailand. so it doesnt make sense if singapore sell expensive, here also should.

QUOTE(Travies @ Oct 31 2008, 05:04 PM)
hey hey, now UMW official offered white color in toyota vios already, but i have not seen it on the road yet, i believe is the same white type with the camry 1... seem like honda dunwan to offer white color ya... aiks else elru will be very happy. hehe

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Oct 31 2008, 05:32 PM)
It's only natural. After all, this is an entry level car that's aimed at the mainstream market and with the gloomy economical outlook, the masses are more inclined to tighten their belts and look for the best available bargain. People who are already set on buying this car will buy it one way or another, but for the majority that's sitting on the fence, those are the ones that will make up the bulk of Honda's sales.

Honda City Singapore review:

hope honda target their audiences right. for me, i can still:

1. get affordable white rebina (value for money)
2. buy cheaper white vios + save some monies
3. recession coming, dun buy cars and put the saving in islamic bonds lol.

there is a saying, regardless how is the economy, ppl will still buy cars because its a necessity. i'll say, be a smart buyer as there are other choices too

cheers.gif

Well, i guess we have to wait until the actual coded price to come out when the City is launched in MY then only we could justify. Guesses might only "frightened" other readers. LOL..  Just kidding.
As info from Honda SA themselves too seems "untrustable" at the moment.  Have to wait for sure.

Further more, from my average FC research results City is the best FC car compared with others including Myvi and Vios. The reading results mostly even obtained from those with heavy foot.
Current new City with new 5 speed gears should be similar since it's FC still remain around 15+km/l.
*
im one of the readers also kena frighten d lol. jsut bought my copy of autocar asean today, gonna enjoy it now brows.gif

*yea, city is always good in FC, but with the overpriced of lets say extra rm5k - rm10k being invested for the car, i wonder how much fuel you can actually save in long run to gain your ringgit value back*

lol. yea, isdi is for those who always stuck in jam, travel in short distant, is build for higher rev in low speed for better pickup while save fuel at the same time. tats why less power in high speed, me think.

some potong car also quite good the FC, if its not for the "reaping off" concept. Same car same design dono for how many years already, and the quality build is getting worst back then. if they were ever to produce food, no doubt its milk also contain high level of melamine too.

Added on November 1, 2008, 6:53 pmsry a little of topic = been to ioi mall yday, they have the SX4 sedan, swift, livina, cherry mpv, persona LE and wish for display. oh boy the persona, it looks nice, feel not bad, but the steering wheel pffffft.... the car is low, my leg also hit bottom part of the steering wheel while exiting the car. cherry mpv has a lot of convenient compartments, but the quality built... swift is nice, SX4 to me is like for a sake of forcefully being a sedan. not to say im really favor livina, but among all, livina is the best vehicle in term of quality build and design displayed there. wish is there too, but locked.

Now i planning my backup plan is to get 2nd hand facelifted city if the new city is too overpriced and depending on economical outcome as well.

Today i checked a few 2nd hand city in cheras and i impressed with a few. Very tempted for the blue one drool.gif
*
true, i also looking on the interest rate and the price. but if tats the case, i just keep my old car then. and next time baru get a bigger car.

yea, i juz spent 40 mins reading my autocar magazine... wonder the honda city in singapore is come with leather seat right, check out the pic shown in the magazine... too bad it doesn't have the paddle shift?
*
yah man, leather seats and steering wheel, nice! erm u mean it doesnt comes with the audio buttons for steering wheel rite? its a good car overall, improvement in every way + better handling and respond from steering wheel. just the engine is a little peppy but that is subjective to everyone and the price is indeed the drawback. as for msia ckd, probably uses more than 50% of local resources, so i find it hard to believe it will be expensive here.

"Why is there a big box moving on the road?" LOL..
But it actually depends on how it's being modded and the sifu who modded it.

haha yea, hopefully get to know some good sifu to guide after owning the new city hehe cheers.gif

haha even my backup plan in jeapody now. I got sounded by my parents not to change car due to uncertain economical situation. But true also, but let see how next year goes. I just have a feeling they want to stick with my myvi n save money until my myvi cannot drive, which is a big no way shakehead.gif

There alot of possibilities here, but in the meantime, i will drive my myvi, with a sad n dissapointed heart sad.gif
*
hey i feel u man. so now we can only wait.... another 1 1/2 month to go...hang in there flex.gif

omg, new city looks OMFGWTFBBQSAUCES OWNING after modified !!! toyota really have to do something...else they will be beaten terribly this time.

maybe and maybe not, depends on city's price tag. in the end, people will still priorities their financial capability rather than their desire.

Myvi still consider as a very petrol saving transport. So you are still ok compare to mine. smile.gif
However of course City is still better than Myvi. brows.gif
From the exterior, Toyota design really makes me wonder "How could the designer able to maintain his job". Vios still previous version looked better. Furthermore current new Vios engine seriously noisy. Wonder why quality dropped.
It definitely won't be cheap if wanted to mod the City until like the Aus version, i can see the light itself is already cost a lot.  blink.gif
yup, i wonder too why is toyota repeating honda's 'jazz transformation to city' mistake. anyway, it still sells ok worldwide since 2005. weird.

hmm i dun really fancy the LED headlights, cos i want angels eyes haha. and the bodykits + rims are really drool.gif

Older version of Vios still ok. New version is a no no.. smile.gif
I would prefer the rear light and all the bodykits as modded for the Aus version, front light same like you - Angel eye. However i believe the Aus version of fog light sure won't be cheap as well...  blink.gif
*
yea, the aus fog light looks nice but i dun think its practical o.

here is what i want for 'my' city console panel hehe
user posted image

i notice the thailand city has the tweeter by the A pillar there but singapore doesnt has it. probably custom made.
user posted image

btw, if wan to equip with angel eyes, i think there are a lot of work need to be done. unless they have the after market holder, o lets not forget the wiring too. im going to do research about it once got the car hehe.

Changing to the LCD touchscreen navi HU - probably set you back between 1k to 4k depending if you decide to go for those China made ones or branded ICE like Pioneer, Alpine etc. And if you got a nice HU, you may probably want to get a nice set of car speakers which may cost another 800 or so.

Changing the headlights to smoked projector headlights with angel eyes, probably cost another 1.2k with at least a year before anything aftermarket for the new City appears and then there's the HID that you'll probably want to implement, it'll cost anything from 300 to 1.1k

Then, perhaps you want vkool or rikecool or aircool or Llumar which will set you back another 1.2k at least?

Going for after market bodykit will set you back around 2k I suppose and if you go for Modulo instead - ouch.

So, IF the base City cost: RM 85k - it's quite a bit of costly addtions there buddy. Good luck with that
*
haha yea, im aware of that. but of course not sekali gus put in everything haha. most probably after 1 year (save money) or the warranty expired first. then will opt for whatever after market accessories and kits available. else if too soon, will be targeted by thieves then later even bigger ouch haha.

btw, me too have the same estimation of price for those items that you have listed lol. except no china brand for me, especially for the light, wont last for long as im also frequent travel at night.

Probably go for a good tint and lay low for 3-6 months to see how the rest of people mod their City.
*
if the city too expensive, the demand for it will be low and market will be slow, hence the after market acc and kits too, like CBU swift last time, very limited and pricey.

The higher a car's OMV, the more you will get back in rebates once you scrap it. But of course, you will incur higher financing charges on your car loan in the first place.

Source

usually a car will last around 15 - 20yrs or even shorter in future. i wonder how much will we get back when we scrap it in future. the value of materials are not even fixed. i dont like the idea of paying so much now and uncertain about it in the future. i mean maybe that time, some of the material costs are cheaper, or more advance technology to reduce production cost, or cheaper material to replace them. also they should start this concept with civic hybrid rather than entry level car, make it more expensive in the end. whose smart marketing idea was that. correct me if im wrong.

The car looks too high and the short rear doesnt match the longer look on the front.

yea, i agree too, but to me its still acceptable lo. have the feeling it would feel like gen 2 with the tall back.
