the pink banding occurs only on some pics at iso 1600 - usually with very low ambient light.
This is much less important and occurs less frequently than purple fringing or overexposure which is the problem with F31fd. A fix is still welcome nevertheless.
So F100fd is good buy eventhough with the pink band issue. tongue.gif
Added on April 17, 2008, 5:37 pm"I don't know anything official, but I have been buying DSLR cameras from Nikon for a long time now, the D1 was my first and it had a terrible noise problem at higher ISO, purple banding real bad and Nikon did very little about it and it took forever. Oh and yes another model did come out, but not before they sold a lot of D1's. Since then I have owned a D2X and now a D3 with real usable high ISO, fantastic camera by the way.
I also like Fuji pocket cameras, I own a F810 and a F100fd which i just purchased yesterday. I debated after reading about the banding and looking at several reviews, and various test photos on web sites around the world. My view is the F100fd has so much going for it that photographers once they realize how minimal the problem really is they will buy it anyway. I suspect the problem is only apparent infrequently, and the other benefits of the camera out weigh this negative.
I thought I would wait at first, but then decided life is way too short to spend it waiting and hoping. Plus I suspect those of you waiting on an answer and solution will be waiting a long time, I don't think Fugi will answer any time soon. I am retired now, but I was a mechanical engineer who purchased machine tools from around the world for a US company. I purchased equipment from Japan on several occasions, now I know electronics are a bit different, but my experience with both big companies and the Japanese culture is that they will examine every aspect of this problem very carefully before they provide their response. They will error on the side of caution, as the solution if there is one has to be correct. They wont want to cause another problem with their solution. i suspect you are looking at months waiting on the answers you are looking for.
Geesh the F100fd is hardly even available in stores, still hard to get and you are talking about the F110fd this fall, get real here. I know technology moves fast, but consider this, the F100fd was announced when (months ago) and just now is is starting to be available in stores around the world, the UK is still waiting? I think even.
Anyway I bought the camera and am going to enjoy it while I wait on a fix if there ever even is one, meanwhile the next newest advance will come possibly while we are waiting. Oh and yes there will in all probability be issues with the next advance what ever it is that you might want to wait to be resolved; but heck maybe by then the pink banding wont be a problem anymore."
